Bit of a worry for me, they just gave a news bulletin and used a journalist who has zero qualifactions to offer expert opinion on the situation in Ukraine. I know this for a fact because I know the person they used. I'll put it down to being Sunday morning and anyone who actually is an expert is still in bed. Gives an insight into the process though, I guess they have a pool of freelancers to use and just go down the list untill someone picks-up.
 
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. My point is the persons area of journalistic expertise is not Ukraine, Russia, or Geopolitics in general. I just wondered why LBC couldn't have found a journalist with some actual knowledge of the subject in question as opposed to a freelancer who just winged an answer. Probably just cheaper. LOL. No biggie. :)

I do agree, but provided the reporter sounds knowledgeable and is factually correct it doesn't matter who reads it. I am sure everybody has some knowledge of a subject. I know about the war in Ukraine, but don't know the detailed history of their relationship with Russia.

Saying this I would rather hear Theo Usherwood or Ben Kentish talk about the latest government policy rather than A.N Other ! However, what would you do if like what happened in 1976 and Harold Wilson made a 'shock announcement' that he was going to resign. It wasn't expected. If the political expert is not around, do you not cover the story, or get someone else in?

I suppose. It's just so incongruous hearing a journalist who ordinarily writes about sex, pornography, and gender issues in The Guardian informing me about the situation in Ukraine and what Putin is planning to do! Unless of course he's going to launch a barrage of dildoes instead of missiles at Kyiv. :P

LOL. Yeah he let that slip (at least to me) last week, that he did that gig. And there I assumed he was an ACTUAL journalist! It's all starting to become clear now. How embarrassing. Actually, he's more bareable talking fluff.

He had you fooled. His journalistic career lasted about 10 minutes. He was a gossip columnist and then wrote for Daily Mail reviewing video games.
He's been with LBC now for about 20 years spouting his opinions.

That is a good point as it may explain much of the obsession that James has with Andrew Neil.

It was not so long ago that Andrew Neil crushed James by asking him "Who are you?" on twitter.

More of this and others will be asking.
