I have no idea. He's always said he has a tiny mortgage. Are there any tax benefits to having a mortgage? 🤷‍♀️

I don't know about tax benefits. I just thought if his salary is as good as people say, surely his mortgage would be paid off by now. I don't know his circumstances, but he does seem like a compulsive spender lol

MIRAS I believe it used to be called. Mortgage income relief at source. A perk for those paying interest on big loans such as mortgages. However, Gordon Brown did away with it in about 2000.
Yes, people used to hook up and buy a property together because they each got the MIRAS.

I was having little chuckle to myself yesterday listening to the Nick and Carol podcast.

Nick was talking about listeners who don't like his show. 'They're moaning about something they don't have to pay for and don't have to listen to' .

Never a truer word said :ROFLMAO:

I always find it odd how people complain about certain presenters, but continue to listen. Honestly, if you are infuriated by a presenter, I just wouldn't listen to them. Nick's show bugs me at times because it's quite repetitive, but guess what, I don't listen much any more. People who listen to a show they dislike must have a kink for it haha

I never liked Majjid, so I didn't listen, I would switch over if I was listening to the radio. There are sometimes a topic that I am not interested in, so again I would switch over.

Some people love to have something to complain about. I'm the same, if it's a presenter I don't like or a topic I dont like, I wont listen. I don't particularly like JOB, but I like mystery hour, so I'll switch on at 12 on a Thursday (if I remember!).

Pre-pandemic I used to have to do a tube journey to Holborn once a week. The to and from journey used to fit in with Mystery Hour which I would download each week. I don't have the 'free time' to listen these days.

I used to do exactly the same. (not to Holborn, mind) but it did pass the time on the tube quite well.

Hey Foxy. We can't keep meeting like this. People will talk !!! Can we meet at your (bingo) House ?:p
Central line is the worst in the summer, I feel for you. Albeit more bearable when you have something good to listen to. I often listen to Steve in the mornings, he was wishing mega fan Jean a happy 90th (I think!) birthday this morning, and he sounded really really happy to be doing so. Made the fact I'd woken up at ridiculous o'clock this morning a little more bearable.

Yeah, there are a myriad of other radio stations to listen to too. I like Times Radio, BBC 5 live, and talkradio too. I have presenters I like, especially at weekends. I don't really listen to LBC at the weekend as I am not big fans of any of the presenters. I also like upbeat shows, rather than the same old political stuff.

Times Radio at 7pm on weekdays with Phil Williams is always a good listen as it isn't that political based, so it's a pleasant listen. At weekends I like Bob Mills on a Sunday and Cristo early mornings on Talkradio. Sometimes I just need a switch up. I'm not saying I dislike Nick Abbot btw, I agree with him on a lot of things, but the repetition of his show can grow tedious. I prefer his podcast, so much more fun listening.

Well on the DS thread you will find people who are up bright and early so they can have their ear pressed to the radio when the Nick Ferrari show starts. Then they will complain until it ends. The next day they do it all again.

Nick Ferrari was also on This Morning today so I would not be surprised if they tuned into that as well.

It's funny how Nick and Iain Dale are often invited to give their views on TV but they rarely send for Jobbie! Last time I saw him was a couple of years ago on HIGNFY, where his main contribution was cackling with laughter.

Actually James never seems to be on programmes which want an opinion. As you say Nick Ferrari and Iain Dale are frequently on and Andrew Pierce has various gigs often with Kevin Maguire.

It must really rankle James that none of the serious TV programmes are interested in his views.

I do recall him on HIGNFY but as you say it did him no favours.
