Some great calls tonight to Tom Swarbrick about the Novak Djokovic drama, from the UK, Serbians & from Australia.
Seems Tom is quite popular down under.

I think the writing was on the wall for Majid.

I think Maajid will wind up at TalkRADIO now that LBC has given him the boot. I think we’ve not seen the last of him and he’d probably fit well with Mike Graham, JHB and Kevin. TalkTV launching also would be a vehicle.

Not sure GB really has the space. He’s a bit too similar to Neil Oliver (not in personality but in opinions) who already has a weekend slot.

So he’s not pretending he chose to leave like lots of ex BBC employees do. Wonder if he got paid gardening leave.

Cheers for the replies on international listeners.

In other news the former Head Girl of this parish is supporting Maajid.

I have mixed feelings about LBC dismissing Maajid. I used to occasionally listen to him and admired his passion and convictions, but he went too far with his anti-vax stance. I believe it was/is wrong and, worse, dangerous. But surely he could see that it was wrong to express such extreme views on public radio! It's possible/probable that LBC management asked him to desist but he carried on and only has himself to blame for being out of a job.
Unfortunately LBC are now getting a backlash on social media and are being accused of 'cancelling' him.

I've said before on here that I used to like Maajid when he first joined LBC. It all started going wrong when he got caught up in Trump conspiracy theories and it's been downhill since then. He would have been one of those claiming that critical care consultant who won't be vaccinated as a hero.

Generally Maajid has been good on Muslim and Islam subjects. He is difficult to make look silly on those issues as he is very well informed on them, both being a Muslim and an ex-muslim extremist. I remember he was one of very few voices speaking out about the dark sides of the Pakistani and Muslim community when there was the news about those young girls being groomed in Rotherham. As has been mentioned, he seemed to go down a rabbit hole of conspiracy stuff and that's what has ultimately ended him.
