Hearing Peter Cardwell on Talk say the words “your mother sucks cocks in hell” about six times without censorship of any sort at 11am on Saturday was quite the ear opener.
Going totally off topic but this is too good not to post and I know some here listen to Boom Radio (cos we're all old) ... Boom's defence to OFCOM as to why they played a song with swear word in it.
I see there was a mention of another LBC thread on another site (possibly this thread ). They seemed shocked it was full of hatred to JOB and that it is (in a posters words) fairly toxic and unpleasant. Seriously, the irony as the only toxic and unpleasant LBC thread is on digital spy.
I was thinking about Steve Allen over the last few days, thinking how he would be revelling in celebrity deaths and Strictly drama then low and behold
Considering how swearing is fairly commonplace in some genres of modern pop, I thought Ofcom might have relaxed the rules just a tad. It's the 'woke' stuff, i.e sexism and racism that is more likely to yank their chain these days. I believe most music stations have now banned this well-meaning horror from 1969. It was a best seller back in those days of peace and love. ☹Going totally off topic but this is too good not to post and I know some here listen to Boom Radio (cos we're all old) ... It's quite light up to 6am though then it becomes "LB Serious" apparently.I missed Steve this morning when I woke-up and put LBC on. Who the duck wants to listen to a phone in on immigration at 6:15am. LBC is just unrelenting politics, they should just rename the bleeping station to TalkPolitics or something.

And it's good to see he's still keeping an eye on Katie Price
My thoughts usually go to Steve when there's a high profile death, especially soap stars and z-listers. He does love a good wallow. ☺Steve needs to figure out how to vlog, or get someone to do it for him. He could do pretty good as a vlogger. I remember the old videos of him wandering around Twickenham etc, he was a natural on camera. He always seemed to enjoy the spotlight whenever it was on him.

Melting Pot
Take a pinch of white man
Wrap him up in black skin
Add a touch of blue blood
And a little bitty bit of Red Indian boy
Curly Latin kinkies
Mixed with yellow Chinkees
If you lump it all together
Well, you got a recipe for a get along scene
Oh, what a beautiful dream

L B Serious, very good Neroli ! As Fenella says, Ian P's allowed to play in the first and sometimes second hour of the early norning slot, but has to put his serious newzo's head on at 6. LBC has been very clever in finding the balance between keeping Steve's old audience happy before dovetailing back into current affairs mode as the nation wakes up, and Ian is very good at both. I wonder what his listening figures are like?Despite all the empty #BeKind nonsense, wokery and so-called self-awareness these "enlightened" days it's a miserable old world out there.
Sorry..Just having a Victor Meldrew moment..It'll pass..

Good Grief! Even I think it's ghastly and and I'm not especially woke. The final line goes on about 'coffee coloured children'. But we bought into it at the time.I'm sure Boom play that too. I've definitely heard it a few times recently. I think it's too modern for Serenade

Coincidentally, today's DT combines the Boom story with a survey that says the over-55s are more tolerant about swearing on radio.
Don't think that 'Young Girl' by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap passes muster any more
Anyone know if Brown Sugar by the Rolling Stones is banned ?
This thread reminded me yesterday of why I got banned from DS. Channel 4 had him doing the alternative Queen's speech and I referred to him as St Brendan...... banned...
There were only two that I'd never heard of and quite a few I occasionally deploy. I particularly dislike the F and C words. They're guttural and sound as ugly as their intention to offend.I'm 56 so that's me then ... I've by passed the Radio 2 stage and gone straight to the oldies station. I'm currently listening to Radio Caroline Flashback (actually it may be them that played Blue Mink not Boom)
Nick Abbot often says he cannot understand why you can say what you like after 9pm on the TV but radio is super strict 24/7. It is weird. You can literally say the worst of the swear words on TV.

One of the O'BINGO crowd on X has dug up a Global video clip of Jobby saying - 'We're just coming up to noon, so if anyone wants to take a shot at Trump, maybe they should make it. Not literally obviously. Although on second thoughts....' I'd guess it's not recent.
