Jacqui Smith has been moaning on about getting a peerage for years. Why she or anyone thinks she deserves it given that she had to resign in the expenses scandal is a mystery to me but of course she won’t be the only one with a questionable record. I wonder if she’s going to step down from the NHS job so she can milk the attendance allowance and a new expenses pot. I have no doubt she’ll carry on with the podcast because she, like Dale, is a complete narcissist but I wonder if she’ll pack it in with the tit and cock jokes. She was still at it in this weeks episode. Trash.

There aren't many people left in the political 'class' or journalism 'class' I actually have any respect for now. As you say, seems to predominately be a bunch of narcissistcs at best or just blatently corrupt. Good Luck Sir Keir ... I don't envy you mate.

This has annoyed me the most since Friday: the crowing from the Jobby types about the 'grown-ups being back' and fawning over basic things like some reasonably basic PR or quick-win actions.

A) Starmer's new Cabinet aren't political godsends. They're the standard type of people you tend to get in Cabinets these days.
B) The Tory government since 2022 was in a death spiral, same as Labour from 2008-10 and the Tories from 1995-97. It's a reversion to standard normality, not some bold new era.

Of course, Jobby & co will be heralding things like it's Obama in 2009 for at least the Summer and probably beyond that.

You could add C) thanks to the low turnout, the emergence of Reform and the anomalies of the voting system, Labour won 411 seats with only 35% of the actual votes cast. So they've got to win over the sceptical 65% who didn't vote for them. Without Reform it would have been a hung parliament. The best way to regain popularity, for both parties, would be to give their MPs a copy of Reform's manifesto.

Reform don't have a manifesto, Reform have said it's a "contract".
They are a private enterprise £££££

From the horses mouth, Andrew Castle on why he left.

Andrew clearly isn't a severely damaged bleep like most of them. I wonder what took him so long and I wonder if they had doubled his wages he would have carried on? Oh well, it's a moot point. I hope he's happier now. I know I would be ... not having to work in that place.

Perhaps Labour brought Jacqui Smith back into power to help with their expenses claims.....
She's getting pelted on my X feed. They are digging up stuff from years ago. There's clip where she states that peerages should not go to people who've been disgraced. And Emily Thornberry is not happy at being left out of the cabinet. 😄

This one was a classic too.

I think CV is under the bizarre impression that she made a difference in the election and therefore can take some sort of credit for the result? What a ridiculous notion.

I presume because of the election James won't be spouting his usual hateful bile. It'll be a chance to see his true Alan Partridge broadcasting skills.

He really is second rate when he's not spewing hate. (That would make a good thread title). :ROFLMAO:
He will still have plenty to get his teeth in to. Farage will be in the news most days and the right wing press will give him plenty to talk about as they try and trash Starmer and Labour. Then we have the Tory leadership bun fight to look forward to.

Not forgeting trashing the BBC like his mate Vorderman. It's all very desperate stuff ... not just from James, just generally as the corporate media model collapses under its own weight.

Farage won't be in the news most days, the press is allowed to criticise a government and the Tory leadership will be done a dusted in a few months. We know that O'Brien is a fascist in whose ideal world anything he disagrees with shouldn't be allowed a platform, but he's not going to get by on quoting the Daily Mail every day for 3 hours.
