LBC making a big fuss of Ferrari's 20th anniversary with the station. This must be causing all kinds of pain to those who've been calling for his dismissal and predicting it for much of that time! šŸ˜‚

The X post congratulating Ferrari brought out all the JOB fanboys (and girls - sexist) calling for James to do the breakfast show. I can't think of anyone less suited to a fast paced breakfast show that covers several topics at the same time ... how would he fit in his 20 minute monologues for starters šŸ¤£

I see Matthew Wright is back on next weekend. It looks like its his gig now.
Having taken a look at the other place I see that Colin from Windsor was not seen until after midday.

That would have been unthinkable in the days that his tennis hero Andrew Castle presented the weekend breakfast show. He would be up breakfasted and washed in time so that he did not miss a minute of the show.

Lineker is first and foremost a football pundit. Sky Sport would snap him up.
And very good at his job. He should be given extra credit for winding up the gammons during his spare time. The way a sports pundit and a former Countdown member (Carol Vorderman) get under the skin of the anti woke brigade is priceless. If the gammons can have the likes of Lawrence Fox and Katie Hopkins surely us snowflakes can have our own celebrity mouthpieces?

Now to my main reason for posting here, after a few months of listening to James Oā€™Brien publicising his own book, How They Broke Britain, I relented and have listened to the audio version. Everyone should read this no matter what political allegiance. It is very well researched, well put together and gives a compelling argument about why we find ourselves in the mess we are in today through the actions of the main protagonists.
Those following him regularly on his LBC show will be aware of much of this, but he has drawn all the the threads together really well and this should be compulsory reading for everyone of voting age before the next General Election.

I think the problem I have with Lineker at the BBC is that he isn't good value for money when you compare him with someone like Gabby Logan (who has similar political leanings). Gabby can turn her hand to most formats as well as different sports and is a qualified journalist to boot. All Gary can do is football and Sports Personality of the Year and even then he's pretty average imo. He'll be gone within the year I think, he's done his 25 years and there is a new head of sport coming in at the BBC looking to clean house (and save money).

I think you're being a bit mischievous in your praise of O'Brien's book, but glad you enjoyed it.

Afternoon James.....

He is paid an awful lot of money but I think he is a very good host of MotD. I donā€™t see a problem with him airing his views - freedom of speech and all that. If he was a news reporter or was a current affairs presenter then I would have a different view.
The problem we have in this country is a very strong presence/ownership of the right wing in the media. The minute that anyone in the public eye says anything that remotely falls within the ā€œwokeā€ arena there is a massive outcry from the Tory mouthpieces and it will be spread across the front pages of the Mail, Telegraph, Express, Sun and often The Times. Before you get to the Oā€™Brien show you have the Nick Ferrari slot and his right wing credentials are well known. At least Oā€™Brien calls out the almost daily lies spewed out by the right wing supporting press but there is precious little political balance in our media.
How is GB News still allowed to broadcast under that banner? It is just a right wing echo chamber that puts Fox News to shame.
When you consider that the majority of this country does not vote Conservative the media of this country does in no way reflect the political leanings of the UK. We desperately need more liberal/centerist/left voices and publications and cherish the few voices who do speak out against what they consider to be wrong. Or ā€œspeak truth to powerā€ as our James would say šŸ˜‰
