Another win for Nick Ferrari as he gets the big interview. James O'Brien cannot even peer in the window in his role as 4th reserve for conferences.

I think Ian Payne should call the first hour of his show 'the Steve Allen Show'. He's even taken to slurping his tea and saying he does it to annoy the listeners.

Having listened to Ian a bit recently, I fully understand why Steve didn't take callers. They're all mad at 4am in the morning.
I heard Ian's run of cranky callers the other morning. I like the way he plays along with them, and some of them also play along with him in return. Steve Allen was a one-off, there will never be another. But I think Ian has found the perfect balance in the way he keeps the early part of the show light and amusing and has a nice way with the callers too. He's made the show his own.

I agree. I think he's got the balance right. Very light first hour then gets more serious towards Ferrari.

Has anyone been listening to LBC the past few days? I'll be honest and say wall to wall Israel/Palestine is too heavy for me, especially as they are just going over and over the same things.

When something serious happens in the world LBC isn't my first port of call I must admit.

Randomer's phoning in all talking like experts and saying 'what's really going on'. I don't find it helpful.

Yeah, that's the worst. Tbf, I think it drives O'Brien up the wall too especially because he considers himself to be an intellectual. So it can be quite funny to listen to him suffer. Even he would admit he'd prefer a show where he just did one 3hr monologue, that's the level of narcissism we're dealing with here. ...When a caller says: "I've done some research on this....", you just know it's going to be an 'interesting' call. Bless 'em ... they do try, it's not their fault.

No Lammy this morning. Ben Kentish sitting in.

Stay away from central London today. Or any other large city, come to that. It could turn very nasty.

No doubt all stoked-up by sections of the commercial/tabloid media. They LOVE it. It's GREAT for business. You HAVE to pick a side you know ... You have to be Pro Israeli or Pro Palestinian, there's no middle-ground, it's all black and white. What our media has become makes me SICK. Ok, rant over ... I need to avoid not only central London, but also stations like LBC, it's making me ill. :cautious:
