What happened with their dog? I don't follow them so slightly confused about it. The dog was diagnosed with cancer and was to put to sleep there and then? My cat had a rare type of cancer but we still got 2 months with her after the diagnosis. I find it odd to be honest.

Also, she looks like she's been crying in that photo, not that I have any sympathy .

I thought she looked like she’d been crying. It all happened really quickly. Clyde was apparently a bit off so they took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and the kindest thing was to put him to sleep immediately. Apparently.

See I find that really hard to believe, if he was only feeling a little bit off then it wasn't a dire emergency and wouldn't have needed to be put to sleep right there and then.
When the vet gave us the diagnosis for my baby girl, he said treatment wouldn't work and all we could do was palliative care, she had 6 weeks where she had great quality of life and then 2 weeks where she declined rapidly and I nursed her until I had to have her pts. What I'm thinking is, could they just not be bothered to deal with the hassle of looking after him while poorly and was easier for them to have him put down.

I don’t understand it either. Like many of you we had a dog with cancer. It was mouth cancer and initially the growth was removed but we were told it would come back eventually and when it does it would be quick. We had about another year and it really was very sudden, but even then we still had time, maybe a week or so, before having to have him pts. It was only when he stopped eating and not himself we knew it was time.

I think the lack of details from them is also what’s making me sceptical. I do think they had him PTS, it’s just the details I’m not convinced of (because they are lacking).

I'm sure they would have been offered some time with him at home for extra cuddles and what not. I find it cold that they just said yeah put him to sleep, I think they just couldn't be bothered or that wasn't the reason for him being pts at all. And to get another so soon, I mean its been 6 weeks and I still keep crying over my cat, couldn't even think of getting another.

Same situation here. An aggressive cancer but we still took him home and spent time with him until it worsened and he was pts.

I always assumed James was the henpecked partner but its just a role for TV. He has her over a barrel.

I wonder if Clyde maybe bite someone?

If he was pts for biting someone it would have had to be a very bad bite or have a history of biting and aggression and ordered by a court to be pts. I mean its a possibility, but I don't personally think that's what happened.

That’s for in instances where the owners would be taken to court to compel them to have their pet PTS against their wishes.
Pet owners can have their dog PTS if they choose to without needing to prove anything or be court ordered to.

It's a long time ago but the White House Farm killer famously had the family dog pts because he claimed it was pining for its (dead) owners. So I can absolutely believe vets can be persuaded.

I'm not convinced they've had a dog pts for aggression (intended or not) and immediately bought one of the same breed. That's bizarre. Maybe it's rehomed. Or maybe it was ill (they can start to lose control of their bowels with cancer) but they didn't want the inconvenience of looking after an ill dog and pts.

It’s a long shot but I think they rehomed him. And don’t want to admit he scratched beau

Maybe that is the case? they didn't seem overly devastated when he supposedly died and they've got another rather soon. I've just got a niggly feeling that if he did get a cancer diagnosis then they couldnt be bothered to look after him and asked for him to be pts there and then, I think the vet would do it under those circumstances.

I think it is either my thinking or yours.
once when we were putting our beloved German shepherd to sleep there was a couple in there who had decided to put their spaniel to sleep because she kept getting diarrhoea.
