Recap: Guest has been posting endless "hilarious" memes on Facebook, which seems to be her permanent base now, and generally going full Aunty Pat. In an article for the FT, Bryce Elder alleged that the VBI is real and is the same thing as the ONS's price index because they were so diligently working with guest. He informed us that she has "retreated from public life" due to harassment, this must be news to guest with her bylines everywhere and presence on our tellyboxes etc. Since then we've been mostly quiet until last night a squig alleged guest tried to buy a flat worth £156,000 in cash, but it fell through when she "ghosted" the owners (seemingly due to an issue with the lease.) The owners themselves support that story. Guest passed due diligence checks from the estate agent and this raises questions of where she got the money. Yes, she's had more than enough thrown at her over the years on top of The Grift, but less than two years ago she was boiling soap and unscrewing the lightbulbs and as recently as May she was saying that home ownership for her and her beloved "SB" was but a distant dream. So she can't be surprised that questions are being asked. And yes, that's the same son that she reportedly did not mention to the owners as living with her #PovPrincessSingleMum

Can’t quote across threads, but if this current saga reportedly began with a viewing on 26 March 2024 (thanks @Seaford Haggington) then going by the dates, @MooBelle is spot on with the conjecture that Jack was basically lovebombing the sellers like duck with her lactose intolerance, Agatha Christie goblets of heavy cream and her fishing gigs

Obviously pokeidiot presented this in the completely wrong way, and she probably could sue, but personally I still think this is big news being that yes, we have always known she’s lying about the pov, but we could never prove it or say how much money she actually did have.

There are now multiple third-party witnesses who are nothing to do with the weird little Jack Monroe microcosm of Twitter who can verify she had £157k.

Am sorry if I’m just taking it too far because I dislike her anyway but that’s massive for me. Tweeting to tug on people’s heartstrings about being poor while sitting on an amount of cash that would be life-changing to some people is vile.

And what entitlement to stay in the bungamansion. She could have downsized from there still renting, so not only do we now know she has £157k cash, we also know she has enough above that to live on.

I really hope now the last few desperate squigs see the light.

The only thing I’d disagree with here is that the seller says he thinks she didn’t have the funds, ie the £157k cash and that’s why it fell through. He has the most knowledge out of all of us on this specific situation so I’m inclined to think he’s correct.

That’s a good point, I would have thought that considering they got to ‘signing contracts’ stage the estate agent would have done those checks but I am going to admit here as a 36 year old adult I’ve never been through a home-buying process so I am probably assuming incorrectly.

I don't hate Jack. I find her behaviour often unintentionally very funny or vile.

I originally thought her latest love bombing was aimed at a new OH, if it was aimed at the vendors, I would guess she would know the circumstances around the sale, which makes her ghosting nasty. But she has form for lying doggo when anything is expected of her.

Does Jack see people as real or just objects that are either useful or not useful?

Tbf it’s not his role to do due diligence on a buyer (and the KYC/AML checks seem to have been done) unless it’s a private sale and he’s guessing she didn’t have the cash when actually the act of instructing the solicitor and paying a deposit says otherwise - I suspect the purchase of the freehold of the plot was £££ or refused.
