Apologies if I'm several hours late, but I'm assuming that when Rhianna Pratchett says that Jack never gave a date for the VBI... Isn't she lying? I can only remember the 'it'll be finished over the weekend' tweet but surely there are others.

Who am I kidding, we all know it's never going to happen and even if it did it would be utterly useless. Jack can't manage a WordPress installation let alone an ever evolving price index that was pointless even at its inception.

I‘m kinda glad there’s no time limit on the VBI, as I for one quite enjoyed the 1 year Anniversary party of the Non-appearance of the VBI. Jack not so much, as she flounced off Twitter after that weekend. Was a proper party on the Saturday, lots of fun was had by all on here 😁 Good to hear Jack’s still gently plugging away at it though, as I’m really looking forward to the 2nd Anniversary next year.

I went to bed at 3am (got lost in an Alice Evans thread) and the ONLY reason I’m up now is because the dog had a groom at 9. She’s deffo been on the 🍧 overnight she would never be ‘up’ as in ‘up outta bed’ this early for her. So I conclude she is still UP. I also conclude up has lost all meaning to me so I shall shut up and duck off x

ETA I chose snow cone instead of snow lol 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I’m keeping it, I like colourful emojis!

I may be way off, but I get the sense that La Pratchett is going to go absolutely apeshit when the penny finally drops. And it will drop at some stage, because this Veiny Bollock Incision is just never ever going to appear. As defensive as she’s been of Jack up to this stage, I think she’s not going to take being hoodwinked lightly at all, and will be even more raging because she’ll have been publicly mugged off and put her dad’s name to it.

I think it’s different for other companies/charities etc cos they can just chalk it up to experience and not work with her again. To put TP’s endorsement on it and be sticking up for her will actually feel like a personal affront to RiRi. Can’t wait for it all to start sinking in. Come over here Pratchetta, we have the receipts Hun…..


 
I don’t really understand why Rhianna Pratchett is going to bat for Jack like this? Granted I’ve never read any of her dads books and know nothing about Rhianna, how she’s handling his estate or what kind of public profile she has or work she does. So I don’t know whether it’s in line with other stuff she does? I just think it’s a bit odd? Given that the VBI is obviously never happening, wouldn’t it be wise for Rhianna to just maintain a tactful silence?
 
I just had a look at the Wikipedia page for the Sam Vimes "Boots" theory of economic unfairness (because like the Frau at the tail end of the last thread, I can't compute how it relates to food cost. I suppose it would work if you were tracking the cost of cheap sideboards vs Cotswold and the relative longevity of both).

This final paragraph at the end of the VBI section evoked an owl and champagne.

Dear me. The lightbulb thing is a nonsense. We are doing that energy save thing with Octopus where for an hour /hour and a half on designated days you try to reduce your energy. The guidance with that is that lightbulbs and tvs etc use very little energy so no need to run around turning every last bulb off or unscrewing them for peak performance bullshit.
 
I’m a fairly well organised and levelheaded frau.
a few months ago, when prepping for the Lazarus pesto in the slopalong thread, my blender broke. As I was clout chasing and wanted to participate, I bought a new hand blender from Tesco.

anyway, who knows it it’s related to blitzing hundreds of thyme and rosemary for the pesto, but the thing blew up after less than a handful of uses. Could I find the receipt? Could I duck.
would Tesco exchange it without a receipt even though it was Tesco branded? Would they duck.
Anyway, I digress. I got onto their customer service who managed to link the purchase to my club card. They couldn’t print off the receipt to post to me so instead sent a gift card for the value.
I took my chances and bought another one the same.
Sorry, I’m still digressing here.

Every time I use it, I immediately wash and dry the thing and put it back together with the receipt inside the little drum so that I don’t lose it.
I had reason to use the blender last night and noticed the receipt was a little bit damp. I meticulously and painstakingly dried off the receipt so that if this one blows up I have proof of purchase and can return it.

the point of this unintentionally very long winded tale is:
Does Jack seriously expect those receipts she collected from around the country to tell a cohesive story, or provide accurate data that stands up to scrutiny?

Blimey I think everyone is right about Rhianna Pratchett spaffing away Sir Terry's hard earned cash on that bone idle idiot and the VBI.
I'd have more sympathy for Jack's VBI 'work' 🤭 if she hadn't been so bloody cocky and rude about the ONS at the beginning. We all knew it was an impossible task but she has obviously made a fair bit of money off it already thanks to nepo babies Nigella and Rhianna so feck her.

Btw the 'big light' is a Peter Kaye thing from his N Irish ma. So Jack being original again.

Probably for the same reason/s other prominent people back her with RTs and so on? They do it because they have only the basest of all base knowledge of who Jack is and All The Good She (apparently) Does, and they think that being shown to be a supporter of such a champion for the poor(s) will by extension do their own profile some good.
