Inside No 9

Was it jesus then or was that woman just a bit mad? I enjoyed it but not the whole "your part german" thing, felt that wasnt needed. Unless i need to rewatch

The Jesus thing was a bit weird, I didn't really get it, but I did enjoy the family dynamics. I can thoroughly recommmend the podcast on BBC sounds for a bit more insight into the episodes.
I didn’t get it either. It’s the first episode that’s left me feeling confused at the end. All the others seem to wrap up nicely and leave you with no questions, this episode left me with so many!

It was an ok episode but again not one I’d rush to rewatch.

I’m sad another series is over but like series 5 I didn’t think it was their best work. Episode 2 and 3 were the best for me. I’m going to watch A Quiet Night In now and remind myself of how bloody amazing the episodes can be!

Agree with all of the unanswered questions , and also the son? I was waiting for some kind of explanation for why he was drinking and wanted to leave , but nothing

I assumed he was just a bored teen!

A Quiet Night in and 12 Days of Christine are my all time favourites. I could watch them over and over again. They've never come close with anything since, though I don't think there's been anything awful. This series has felt a bit different, and I don't think there's anything I'd be desperate to rewatch except perhaps Lip Service.

They all felt a bit samey with a double plot twist and similar sets. I think they even said in the podcast that Simon Says and How do you Plead were filmed on the same set. Other series have benefitted from filming on location and having a variety of inventive set ups for number 9.

So I finally started watching the new season and I rather enjoyed episode 1. I see some people weren't very fond of it and some people straight up hated it (mainly on Reddit it seems), but I definitely think it's because you have to be on the ball to really catch all the references and jokes to enjoy it and appreciate the writing. I imagine re-watching the episode is much more 'worth' it for that reason though

I can definitely understand that there was a lot of art behind that episode and I fully admit that I am far too low-brow to appreciate it 😂 I think it just ticked too many of my dislike boxes: Pantomime, puns, slapstick, masks, Shakespeare, breaking the 4th wall.

Just caught up on the final episode. Enjoyed it, especially the family dynamics. Not sure about the Jesus thing. Apparently it was based on 'Abigail's Party' and 'Play for Today'.

I have loved this series since the beginning. My favourite episodes are:
the Christmas Krampus one - so good
The one on the train with Jack Whitehall
12 Days of Christine - sent shivers down me
The one with Monica Dolan, Emilia Fox and Nick Moran (about the house move)

in the last two series, I liked Stakeout or the second episode of this series (the lip reading one) I found the rest ... ok.

Would recommend doing that - I’m watching them all from the start again and really enjoying it. It’s been ages since I’ve seen some of the early ones
I've dipped into a few old ones recently... Nana's Party, The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge, Zanzibar and the one where they find the cursed Hare. I really enjoyed them, more so than any from the latest series, they just have a completely different feel to them. I never liked the horror ones but I might give Krampus another go.

Would heavily recommend the podcast ‘Inside Inside number 9’ on BBC sounds for anyone whose a fan of the show- Steve and Reece talk through the making of the episodes and fun trivia with guest stars like directors and the cast. Before the latest season they did a round up of fan favourite episodes including the riddle of the Sphinx and the 12 days of Christine!

I need to do a rewatch too. I had just had a baby when my husband and I discovered the show, and there's several episodes I started but didn't finish due to falling asleep 😬

My favourites that I did manage to get through are:
The 12 Days of Christine
The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge
Cold Comfort
The Riddle of the Sphinx (very clever)
Once Removed
The Stakeout
Lip Service

I wish there were more anthology shows like this and Black Mirror.
