Inside Missguided: Made in Manchester - Channel 4

I watched the whole season on Channel 4 and oh my god it only gets worse, Treasure is vile honestly, if I was a model doing a shoot for them she would make me feel so uncomfortable. The whole thing gave me PTSD from that cliquey environment in school where everyone was 'friends' but secretly hated each other.
I won't give too much away but they have to do a photoshoot in a very cold place and the model is struggling and they basically still force her to do it.
I will never shop there again, disgusting company.

I watched that episode last night. The model was treated poorly. They were so unprepared. Where were the big padded coats for her in between shots? Thermals? Hot water bottles?

And thst ski range was trash. If you're into skiing you wouldn’t be buying some misguided ski suit. As for the model being made to pose in a bikini on the slopes, just ridiculous.
im honestly not surprised they lost money as they clearly run off trying to build their empire e.g. bricks and mortar stores, expanding into ski wear with no knowledge and experience. They just think oooo it’s boujee to go for a ski hol and party so let’s produce a ski range that you can wear with your boobs out 🙄🙄🙄

You could tell having a physical store didn’t work well either. The clothes looked bad under the lights!

i also got very clicky vibes. I imagine it’s quite a catty environment. Nothing about their brand or marketing seems inclusive to me. In fact I find it very exclusionary unless you’re a certain style and attitude (bascially treasure style). Like when they were going through the models, they were like oh she has no edge. Right, so clearly your clothes are not for everyone then.

@Lechat I've just finished that episode this morning. Treasure herself was like "I can't feel my lip, I can't feel my face" - however, she is dressed in proper ski/thermal wear and the model is in a cropped tracksuit! You could tell the model was absolutely freezing - that whole segment is a huge HR case waiting to happen.

I've been to the Bluewater store, the clothes are tat and made for people with the body of a paperclip.

It's my idea of utter hell working in an almost entirely female office. Especially one filled with vacuous, vain, clueless backstabbers.

I worked in IT for a decade leading up to and after the millennium and worked with mainly guys, which was so much fun.

Sad as it is, I think some women (not all) feel that they've something extra to prove in the workplace, hence the behaviour and cliques.

it was unbelievable really. And then treasury pushing for extra shots. If that other lady hadnt stepped in, the poor model would have been in real trouble.

is that missguided store still open at Bluewater? Really surprised it’s lasted if so

I think for me was when they were picking out a plus size model but they said the girl was too plus size to be a plus size model loool

yes! That was ridiculous wasnt it, and then in the next breathe they say their clothes are for everyone. Except those that don’t have ‘edge’ or are ’too plus size’

they have also been caught using normal size Models for their plus sized range and blamed the pandemic. Honestly. Really does seem like they make cock up after cock up.

When the guy on the shoot with the influencer said "thumbs are for fashion, fingers are for fat people" wtf mate really following the brand values of missguided. empowering women my ass 🤢
Felicity Hayward, who’s a really well known plus size model etc. said on her Instagram that she was shocked they said that and it was left in the show, especially as she’s worked with them in the past

Oh the other reason for the losses was bringing in a load of exec directors on massive wages (mostly from the very group). All men and left within months. One didn't start and got paid off 🙈

They were a disaster weren’t they? I’d forgotten about the bad forecasting and huge commitments of stock as well.

Genuinely feel MG haven’t moved with the times at all and don’t seem to have an end to end strategy which touches every part of the business and customer experience end to end.

I think it was summed up best when I think Treasure said ‘We throw so much tit at the wall and see what sticks’.

It strikes me as very cliquey as others have confirmed. When Treasure told them to not sit down to watch the advert the people’s faces said it all.

It’s very obvious there’s a strong bullying culture within the business. Doesn’t help that the CEO is foul, not interested in being constructive or engaging with his employees and is extremely belittling. Hence his staff follow his attitude. He also thinks he’s amazing.
The whole series made me cringe, it’s like watching a poor uni assignment full of students trying to run a company 🤦🏻‍♀️ I do a lot of consultancy work and can quite rightly say I wouldn’t want to step foot in their head office.

Just watched the first episode. The voiceover is so cringey. Treasure seems like an absolute twit. Part of me thinks it looks fun to work there, the other just knows how clique it would be and the sort of girls I can’t stand!

I watched all of Made in Manchester and Breaking Fashion (the bbc In the Style doc) after reading bits of this thread. I loved the shows - in a bit of a cringy way, but also enjoyed seeing what went on behind the scenes in those industries. I was surprised after watching both that I thought Missguided were actually better at their job. The creatives at in the style seemed way less confident at what they were doing and the photos didn't seem professional. Was surprising as in other ways Missguided staff seemed more cliquey and childish. I think perhaps as Adam is so controlling that his staff haven't got the confidence/expertise to deliver?
