Inside Missguided: Made in Manchester - Channel 4

I think this is a good point. easy for brands to say we’re all about diversity and inclusivity but often their marketing doesn’t match up and can make women feel insecure. seems like they equate nakedness to empowerment but that’s actually excludes so many women who don’t feel comfortable with it. Doesn’t mean your less empowered just because you want to dress more modestly.

Are the episodes all available somewhere? Would love to watch the rest this weekend!
It's on All4. :)

You can get them all on the channel 4 website. You need to make an account though

Like Maz from Club Reps. (Remember that?!) Hilarious to watch, but you wouldn't want to work with, or for her.
I definitely wouldn’t want to work with her but for someone who bigged herself up so much, she hadn’t checked out the location for the shoot beforehand, reckoned when she was interviewed 10 years ago two pieces of her work were put on Instagram ( hello it was all Facebook and Twitter back then!)

thank you! That’s some binge watching this weekend sorted! will be good to get a discussion going on this thread as well after watching it all.

interestingly I’m watching the In The Style programme that bbc aired. Although there’s technically the same fast fashion issues, the company doesn’t come off as bad. Seems more focus on running the business and the staff seem more likeable.

Yep. See my post on last page about location shoots?

Absolute disaster!

The worst part with Treasure was when she was at home and she was so affected by her job. She said she doesn’t mind being at home because she gets to go to Dubai, LA etc etc for work and was saying how she came from humble beginnings and had worked on a market stall but has made it now as if she’s now Beyoncé. You work at missguided, you’re not royalty mate

Lovely shot from Treasure on her public Instagram. Like... soooo edgy!

She’s also the biggest catfish ever 😂. Her on insta versus her on the show are two completely different people!
Oh my god exactly what I said!
When she took the selfie with the husky dog in Austria and then we saw a glimpse of the insta version of the photo I said to my husband that’s mental like she looks nothing like it we are seeing her for real on the show and then how badly the image was filtered!

There's so much I could say about the series. So many cringey moments and sheer madness. But the part that really stuck out for me was when they had the model wearing the snowboarding outfits and shooting her in minus degrees. She was literally naked and turning purple whilst they're all standing in massive fur coats and gloves etc. There was even a moment when she was begging to stop but Treasure kept pushing her for 'one more shot babe'. Just so irresponsible. What if she got hypothermia? All for the sake of the perfect shot.

They’re getting lots of comments about modern slavery on all of their Instagram posts
I really hope people will be more aware of this issue now and think twice about buying from these kind of brands. The way they “addressed” it on the show was so flippant and disingenuous.
It also made me realise how awful the clothes actually are - cheap and nasty. None of the women wearing them looked good imo, apart from maybe the pregnant lady but I’m not sure she ever wore anything from Missguided lol

The show made me realise just how disgusting the brand is, to be honest, for so many reasons.

First of all, offering Molly Mae £350K and a range rover and then haggling over pennies with manufacturers? The owner attempts to show that they care about their factory workers but they evidently don't care enough to pay them properly.

They claim to be inclusive to all sizes but they show one token plus sized model in the whole show. If you go on their website right now and go to the dresses section, there's over 4000 items but when you filter it down to size 20, there's under 100 options. Doesn't seem very inclusive to me, I thought they wanted all styles to be available to all sizes?

That Treasure is honestly just revolting, the way she speaks to people is disgusting and unprofessional. She thinks swearing every other word and drinking beer is a personality trait. She's rude to so many people throughout the show and didn't seem to give a tit about the ski model posing in a bikini in the snow despite the fact she easily could've got hypothermia.

The owner Nitin is no better, the way he speaks to some people is awful. If I was spoken to like that, by an authoritive figure or anyone else, I'd walk straight out. That poor girl (seemingly the only POC in the entire office) is trying to pitch her ideas and he says things like "I might as well just go and check my emails instead" and "I'm just going to crawl under a table and die." How about being constructive instead of insulting your employees?

Just started watching this and I already hate it. Absolutely loathed the In The Style series (the owner is right knob). All these fast fashion brands do the same bloody thing, crappy clothes, cheap “collections” with the z list celeb of the minute and this belief that they’re doing something “different” 🤣 gross

The staffing doesn’t look very diverse either. 90% of their staff are thin blonde pretty girls. I think it’s one of those places where you get there job if you look like their customer base.

Did this woman really say “the girls here are changing the face of fashion” 🤣🤣 sorry what you do what every other fast fashion brand does.

So Treasures clearly got where she is by being a gobby madam. Super annoying

Awful!
I know they want people talking about them, good or bad, but their awful work ethos and obvious money grabbing mindset genuinely has put me off them.
Bartering over the cheapest items but paying Gemma Collins a ridiculous sum to wear some awful trousers in a million dollar car?
I can’t believe how much they’ve shown themselves up. It was like all those mean girls in high school had started working in the same place. Treasure didn’t even act bothered about Jordan Lipscombe or making her comfortable, hence the lack of forward thinking that went into that shoot. Poor girls nearly being blown away by that wind and all Treasure is bothered about is her hair - which of course she has to compare to her own, because it’s the Treasure show. Don’t even get me started on that head buyer woman - the way she spoke to the other girls was absolutely embarrassing.
I think less than 10 minutes in Treasure had made jokes about eating disorders, claiming body empowerment whilst plugging skinny girls in her adverts, and the voiceover says ‘luckily we have gorgeous women working for us’ and marched in skinny white girls - but yeah just because they SAY they’re about inclusivity, they must be.
So glad MollyMae stayed far far away from that absolute tit show.
The disregard for their environmental responsibilities and refusal to accept that they have to take anything seriously is shocking. “If we won’t do it someone else will” - coming from the CEO of the company in terms of not irresponsibly purchasing such large quantities. So many things you could apply that to for justifying terrible/irresponsible acts, but something tells me it wouldn’t stand up then either. Suppose it’s easy to not care about the sweatshops when it’s buying you new cars and stuffed unicorn toys.
