Ooh, didn't realise there was a thread about this! I've been watching! Remember it being on as a kid but I was very young then so the early storylines didn't really register. I remember the later speedboat shenanigans.

So series 1 finished yesterday and series 2 started today. Presumably it's meant to be the next day but I sat there cackling to myself because some of the characters' hair had either grown about 3 inches overnight (Jan, Leo) or they had a new hairstyle entirely (Avril). Continuity? Who's that?

Previously, I was fascinated by the contrast between Abby's dramatic endings - 1) jumping off some rocks into the sea and 2) being pushed, while pregnant, down the stairs by her mother - and the jazzy upbeat closing credits music (in series 1).

Also, I don't think I would be compelled to buy the latest fashions from a boutique called Periplus. I know it's a coastal/nautical reference, but these days I hear "peri-" I immediately think either anal or menopause.

Jan whizzing around the Southampton area in an Austin Metro.

I've also done some Wikipedia research and discovered Jan and Ken were/are married in real life, as were Lynne and Charles.
 
I am LIVING for Lynne's "sailing face".

Also in today's episode, how many times did Jan and Claud have to film that bit of them walking across the warehouse. I had visions of them running out of room. I could see Jan thinking about it.

Edited to add WTF was that manoeuvre she pulled in the car? A handbrake turn that appeared to put her in quite a good position to just carry on driving in the opposite direction, but she then reverses and does a cock-eyed three point turn?!

I am far too into this programme 😂

Ooh! Missed that bit! I've finished the series so am now pining for more 😂🤣
I kept getting distracted with omg - massive shoulders!!!!........oh a peplum!!!!.... you get the picture 🥴
 
So now I am getting Google ads for catamarans and yachts.

Anyway, the wedding of the decade between Lynne and Claud happened this week - is there anything worse than an 80s wedding? Drop waists and batwing sleeves abound. And the poor bridesmaids! However, I did quite like Jan's hat (not the rest of her outfit though).

(Also found out that a series I loved in the early 90s, "Trainer", about horse racing, was a spin-off from Howard's Way).
