I was sad about the twins fighting to the death 😔 that was so horrible and unnecessary.

Ser Crispy is a horrid little man. I wasn't keen on Otto until last night but at least he has a brain and you can understand his motives. Aegon will turn people against him if he keeps having loads of public hangings. It should have been easy enough to find out which rat catcher came into the Palace.

Alicent doesn't look very much older than her children which is a bit jarring. She and Otto will be lucky if they can have any influence at all now. I also found it odd that she didn't comfort her son and daughter as you would expect.

Errrr wasn't Aegon the one who enjoyed the child fighting pits even when it involved his own illegitimate children?? Yeah, can't say I feel too much sympathy for the man.
He’s also a rapist. Just like Daemon killed his first wife and murdered an innocent servant to pass off as the body of Laenor Velaryon. Very few of the characters are innocent of any wrongdoing in HotD.

I found the brothers/twins death heartbreaking and again George RR Martin taking from history alot of civil wars through history have brothers taking different sides. I like how in Games of Thrones time it's still mentioned and a song is written about it.
I also thought the same about Alicent not looking much older than her children but then I remembered she was married at 17 and had three children buy the age of 21. Maybe the writers are going by the fact she had her children very young? 🤷‍♀️
I find The Greens very stand offish regarding communication Otto basically pawned Alicent out to the King, Alicent in turn was never affectionate to her children which has made them unaffectionate to each other. Aegon walked passed Helena unable to give her any comfort. Alicent all through the episode was trying to talk to her Father about her "sins" and Otto didn't want to hear it!

I don’t think those scenes were to show lack of communication, they are to show how they value men/power more. I thought Aegon not comforting Helena because he blames her for letting them kill the boy instead of the girl? The only heir type thing. And the Otto but I assumed he already knows and doesn’t want to have it confirmed as he would have do something then but because it’s his daughter he’s pretending to know now

I see what you mean but I think it can be both. The differences in how Rhaenyra and Alicent treat their children is very obvious, and I think that boils down to how they themselves were treated as children. Rhaenyra had a close relationship with her mother and had her own children with Harwin out of love and not duty. Viserys was hopeless as a father, even to Rhaenyra until he made her his heir and his guilt at Aemma’s death began to eat him up (literally). Only then did he take something of an interest. I imagine Alicent had a loving mother once, but when she passed she was left with Otto who used her as a pawn in his games and pushed for her to be married to the King. She gave Viserys children out of duty and this is why she resents Rhaenyra. We see Alicent struggle to bond with her children multiple times, her physical abuse of younger Aegon when she’s slapping him around and screaming at him. In stark contrast, Rhaenyra loves on her children and is patient with them. Everything is business to the Hightowers, they struggle to find the words and to comfort each other because that is learned behaviour as a result of generational trauma. Now they all have issues.

Alicent failing to comfort Aegon was just the cycle repeating. That scene happened directly after Alicent's own succor seeking with Otto for a reason. Otto was not willing to listen to Alicent open up to him, he shut her down immediately and peaced out the moment she wanted to show true vulnerability. Likewise, Alicent is unwilling to give out what she seeks to her own son. The cycle repeats. All three of them are the exact same.

I also took the Aegon/Helena scene to mean he somehow blames her for their son's death.
