This is the one I watched. Definitely wouldn’t have had a clue what was going on otherwise

Yes they absolutely do!! I hate how they never refer to anyone by name and they all look the same impossible to follow when you can’t remember what happened! It needs subtitles underneath going that's such and such
I interpreted it as a "women have to be the public face/emotional sponge whilst men get an easy ride" or "no one can possibly mourn this more than the king who's lost his heir" as if Jae's mother was feeling nothing...Why was aegon spared from the public funeral?
Good point! I was also thinking maybe so that the people don’t see the king as ‘weak’?I interpreted it as a "women have to be the public face/emotional sponge whilst men get an easy ride" or "no one can possibly mourn this more than the king who's lost his heir" as if Jae's mother was feeling nothing...
I googled Aegon II and Alicent's actors ages and there's less than two years between them (December 1993 and February 1995). Again, I think it's probably trying to make a point that Alicent has a hard paper round being forced to be a grandmother before she turned 35. It works for me and I wouldn't go far as to say Helaena looks older than her (all JMO, of course).
Agree with you @emerald and @Furrytriangle on why Aegon was not sent to the public funeral travesty. He was supposed to be seen as strong and capable and him crying or going off would not have done that.
I imagine Otto also knew he could not be trusted to behave in a way that was dignified and earned love from the people.
I loved the episode, it had great performances. The Rhaenyra-Daemon fight was also amazing. And the twins really lived up to what I imagined for that showdown.

I thought Alicent was quite selfish (when isn't she?) to try to offload her guilt on her father when he had just lost his position at court and was realizing that his grandson would probably set fire to his dreams and bring ruin to their family. But little Miss Alicent wanted to tell him about bleeping the hypocrite head of the king's guard instead. Read the room, Alicent.

And of course. Ultimate selfish move: Why deal with your son's pain when you can instead go get down with oily Crispy?
I miss Tywin, what a character and a masterclass in acting by Charles Dance.
