Hocus Pocus 2

Fast forwarding a lot of the anniversary show, it's pretty awful. But the behind the scenes bits and cast reunion are worth it

Most disney things like that are bad. I always watch the ones they film in the themeparks and its so much filler! Couldnt imagine watching it on normal tv with ads as well.

I did enjoy the anniversary show though minus the costume compertion.

I cried like a baby. Feel like a piece of my childhood left as it ended. Spoiler coming below.

What do we think of the end credits? Do we think Thackery Binx is now back as a cat? Do we think there will be a number 3? I kind of hope not as it would ruin that lovely ending for me. I cried a lot and then cried some more saying bye to Billy. Also loved the start with the young Sanderson sisters; maybe a prequel would be fun?

I missed the end credit!!! Will remember on my rewatch

Ah man I was kind of disappointed tbh. It was worth it to watch Bette Midler play Winnie again, she was truly superb, and she carried the entire movie. I loved the musical number and the throw backs to the original movie but man the main three girls were annoying.
Would have been way cooler to have the original three leads back as adults (maybe the actors didn’t want to ? Idk) or have the new kids be relations of the original kids.
Also this trend of making villains sympathetic is just boring. Yeah cute it’s about being “sisters” but these witches killed a child in the first movie 🤣

I’m gonna go watch the first one now and forget this one 🤣

I went in with low expectations and enjoyed it for what it was. Loved the Easter eggs and references from the first movie, also laughed out loud at some of the jokes. I agree though about being a bit disappointed in the ending, I really hoped they wouldn’t have made them sympathetic characters and wished they’d continued with their quest to suck the lives out of all the children (they killed children ffs, I don’t think we’re meant to feel sorry for them). The fact that they were no longer obsessed with their youth and luring children when it was the whole point of the first one just made the movie feel a bit disconnected to it’s predecessor.

Still, I could suspend my disbelief and enjoy it for what i thought it was going to be; a Disney channel movie not to be taken seriously. The original will always be the best anyway purely because of the nostalgia.

I'm surprised to read those reviews, especially the woke comments. I didn't see anything 'woke' about it really, there was no social message shoe horned in except briefly which was a bit of an eye roll lecture (why can't writers be subtle these days without having to literally explain your message) but as it was done with humour and only brief its easily forgotten. I thought Froy as Mike was very funny, Belissa was also very strong with some funny moments. Whitney as Becca took a little to warm to but she was better here than in the gossip girl reboot

The original cast weren't asked to come back apparently

The three witches are apparently open to a third film, but that would need a strong story. Much of the humour comes from the developments in technology and society in 30 years. But if they can match this ajd the original id love a third film. A disney plus tseries on the 3 girls wouldnt surprise me either, not sure id watch it though.

Also, there is a post credit scene for those who switched off

I didn’t go in with high expectations, so wasn’t disappointed but I did find it “just okay”.

Part of the problem is that this film came at least a decade too late. Fans have been calling out for a sequel for years and as soon as it was apparent that this was a cult classic, they should have got into gear sooner, Bette herself had been open to a sequel for ages.

It was ok, it was watchable I knew it wouldn’t be as good as the 1st but I thought it was really slow to get into the storyline. It’s not something I would go back and rewatch the way I do with the 1st one. IMO it was a bit overhyped.

I don’t know about the other original cast members but I read somewhere Thora Birch who played Danni was asked back apparently but she had prior commitments and they didn’t want to wait for her which I think is a shame, would have been nice to see some more of the originals in it.
