Can’t wait to finish work today to watch Hamilton. Was supposed to go to New York in April and wanted to get Hamilton tickets so this will have to do for now. Anyone watched yet? Anyone seen it on stage and can compare?

Watching this tonight. We were due to watch it in London in May and then November and then it was cancelled indefinitely last month :( hoping this will make up for it until we can see it on stage!

Aww what a shame, I hope you get to go in the not too distant future!

It’s on disney plus tomorrow for 4th July! Can’t wait!

I have no idea what it's about, all I know is it's impossible to get tickets 🤣 that's enough to make me want to watch it. How longs it on Disney plus for? Just the weekend or for good?

My son says it's on indefinitely from today..... 🥰 🥰

If you wanted to know what it's about ..... 😊😊

No it’s staying there

It’s amazing - it’s a historical musical based on the founding fathers and all the cast are people of colour it’s like a kick in the teeth to old slavery white america

Amazing songs honestly have a listen on Spotify

I wonder if the majority of brits who see Hamilton advertised on Disney plus will know who Hamilton was?

Let’s face it - despite its being linked to the revolution war with the Americans and us british. We never get taught it in schools here, weirdly enough.

Did any of you know who Alexander Hamilton was? I had no idea who he was before I listened to the musical

I've just watched it I really enjoyed it in fact I'm rewatching it but just watching the songs I really enjoyed. I wasn't enjoying it to start with and felt disappointed but as it went on I became more invested. On my rewatch I understand the beginning part better now.

It also has me day dreaming about writing my own musical and then becoming an egot award winner. 🤣🤣

The actors are amazing love the guy who plays Lafayette/jefferson and the parts where king George turns up were funny too.

I watched Hamilton on the West End last year and I have to say it wasn't what I was expecting but it is such an incredible musical! I never thought a show could be made about something so dull which is so gripping. There are loads of quirks/satire in it too (the King for example) which I love.

I've just finished the Broadway version on Disney+ and it's just as good, although I have to say I prefer the actors in the live version I saw.

Well worth watching but I recommend subtitles or listening to the music beforehand as I know some people have said it's tricky to keep up with.

I feel like it needs singing cats.
Everything is better with a bleeping cat that can shake its ass and hold a tune,

doesn’t even need to be Taylor Swift.

I'm sitting in tears after watching it 😂 😂

I'm from the UK, but am a US history nerd, and I would definitely recommend reading a quick summary of it before watching, because I don't think the UK school system touches on any of the history in it at all (at least we didn't)
Still dying to see it in the flesh too!

I feel like to enjoy it you have to understand some of the New York slang and banter.

Also some of the songs such as Ten Duel Commandments is inspired by Biggie Smalls “Ten Crack Commandments”

And where Jefferson says in Cabinet Battle 2 “If you don’t know how you know” it’s out of Juicy by Biggie too. The guy who made TV e musical Lin Manuel Miranda is Brooklyn born and most of the cast are New Yorkers too.

You kinda gotta know old rap and be into american culture to really enjoy it I think because it is a hip hop musical

In England we have jack all like this

God it was SO GOOD. I saw it in May 2018 in the UK West End and loved it, but obviously tickets are like gold dust so haven’t seen it since. I can’t believe we’re lucky enough to see it with the original broadway cast 😍
If anyone’s interested, Lin Manuel Miranda was tweeting some cool facts last night while watching it.
Excuse me being a theatre nerd on this but I think it’s such a fantastic move on Disney’s behalf. It’ll have made them a ton of money too just as subscriptions for D+ were probably starting to drop, but even a year’s subscription is £50, and you weren’t really able to get a single ticket for Hamilton for that over here, even less so in the US (Broadway is so much more expensive than West End). It’s just made theatre so much more inclusive, it’s absolutely brilliant.

final word, Jonathan Groff as the King- incredible.
