I agree! Every interaction with the bakers seems a bit forced and desperate...still enjoying the show, but I think I watch it more out of habit than anything else...

I know! They all sounded utterly foul. A savoury sandwich cake with lots of different fillings. Bleurgh.Never has a show stopper challenge ever had me wanting to heave before
I agree with other comments - just not getting into it yet this year. Mind you I'm still getting over Jurgen. Seriously how tf did that happen?
I don’t dislike the hosts, but I think Matt seems a bit uncomfortable in this role (I don’t really get him as a comic either), and Noel seems to be phoning it in a bit this year.I don't know what it is this year but I just can't get into it! The hosts are really annoying me
Maybe part of the problem is that they don’t seem to have really clicked with any of the bakers yet. I can’t put my finger on it; I’m still liking watching it but something feels a little off.

Are Matt and Noel supposed to be funny? They are such an awkward pairing.
I actually think Noel can be hilarious but with Matt his humour just goes.
They don’t have any chemistry and dont bounce off each other at all

Two surrealist comedians in dire need of a straight-man.
Noel only works when he's got someone deadpan -but very aware of how to react to the absurdity- to play off. Julian Barrett, Richard Ayoade, people like that. Same with Matt.
Doing surreal skits to Prue and Paul, neither of whom have no comic timing or ability to riff of their flights of fancy is painful.
Doing it to a set of stressed amateur bakers with no TV experience is even worse, and can quite easily come off as tone deaf or insensitive, especially if the contestant is having a bad time already, or has English as a Second Language and the nuances of tone and comedy get lost in translation.

I haven't been able to get into GBBO since Mary Berry left. I enjoyed her and Paul together. I also felt that there was still some kind of coziness and quintessentially Britishness about it with Mary there. Sue and Mel were a loss too. Just seems it's lost a little something for me.

Everyone I speak to about GBBO says the same, it’s really lost it’s sparkle, especially this year. There’s no stand out characters or truly wow bakes, the showstoppers are often things you’ve never heard of or would never actually bake. Noel and Matt do not gel as a comedy duo at all. It’s a shame. People genuinely used to look forward to watching it after a day at work, but I dont think a lot of people are bothered in the same way. It needs a new comedy duo and better casting next series.
