Alison was milder than expected.
I think it would be good if no one got eliminated the first week - give the nerves a chance to settle, and let us get to know all the contestants a bit

Alison was a pleasant surprise. I like the fact she looks like she eats cake and cares about it, unlike Matt. I get the impression Noel doesn't have normal eating habits at all, but he's more engaged than Matt was.

I'd prefer for everyone to stay on for Week 2. I liked the baker who left.

I enjoyed the start to the new series. I wouldn't really be familiar with the new presenter but I liked her, a little loud at times but she strike me as someone who naturally has a loud bubbly voice.
I liked most of the bakers, one or two I didn't really warm to. I agree that they shouldn't have someone go home in the first week.

Just caught up on the showstopper bakes I missed last night - what a great start to the show, Bake Off seems to have it's old magic back for me as they're focusing on classic bakes again not silly themes. They're a really talented bunch this year, it's going to be tough to call!

I really liked Alison! I thought she would be way over the top but she really dialled it down. It was nice to see more ‘simple’ bakes. Some of the animal showstoppers were incredible.

I'm going to be in the minority here, because I found Alison's accent rather grating - if you'll pardon the pun. She also looked uncomfortable when she had to deliver that lame gag about not liking dry beaver. Probably not entirely her fault, it was in the script.
Having said that, I enjoyed the first episode and liked the raspberry cakes, and showstopper challenge.

The beaver jokes did make me chuckle not going to lie. The older lady who made the beaver is sweet, I like her. Reminds me of my Mum - a bit ditsy but lovely.

Convinced that Alison Hammond was going to be too loud, and too much i was determined that I wouldn't watch Bake Off this year, but I heard good reviews so I watched it last night. It was good actually, she dialled it right back thankfully.

Just catching up with this thread, I enjoyed the episode and Allison was good, not too loud and overbearing. I’ll take her over the painfully unfunny Matt any day.

I like the animal showstopper cakes, especially the cute little sheep looking forward to the drama next week I’m not gonna lie lol

Really enjoyed the first episode havent really enjoyed the last couple of series so it was a nice surprise I've always liked Alison and thought she was a good fit

Slightly off topic, I just Googled how tall Alison is as I thought Noel was really tall IRL and they seem similar. Google says she is 5'9".

On topic, I love marshmallow. B&M's do a Wham flavour marshmallow fluff and I would bathe in it as it is so good.

Also on topic, does anyone have a favourite yet? I wish no one went out week one so we get a better feel of them.

I mean I fancy Matty. The older guy who joked with Alison, saying he couldn't tell a joke incase he was funnier than Noel, he's got a good sense of humour, I like him.

The lass who lived in Tunisia, she can duck off though, I've decided I don't like her.
