Great British Bake Off 2023

Dan’s smugness reached new levels. Just watched last night’s and came to read the comments. No one has mentioned his comment to Josh when he won:
“Well done Pal you deserve that: you’ve been knocking on my door for ages. Well done.”

Rightio, so you’re the one to beat then Dan?

Cristy was irritating as hell. Bit sick of them treating Saku like she’s there to help their comedy routines. Realised that Josh creeps me out a bit. Didn’t like Tasha’s behaviour. Thought Matty was lucky to survive. All in all, no one I’m rooting for.

Anyone else think noel looks like he's bored and fed up with it all this series?
I said the exact same thing, and then he broke that glass 😂

I totally missed that comment! Time for Dan to go methinks

Just caught up as I missed watching it last night.

It was a frustrating episode. I actually eye rolled when P&P said Tasha and Cristy were in the running for star baker. Tasha who came last in the technical and Cristy who's showstopper looked the most underwhelming of the lot. Josh was the right choice but really there was nobody else. The judges definitely have their favourites.

I know it's a baking competition but they've got rid of the most interesting characters too early imo! For me Abi and Rowan were the ones I was rooting for and now they're gone I feel like the spark the show had regained when it started has gone again. Saku is probably the only one who interests me atm.

Just coming to see if anyone else had noticed that. Find him very smug.

Also Paul is very obvious with his favourites. Thought Dana’s isomalt box looked beautiful and definitely the best finish of the lot and when they were discussing the who would win and who would go he said oh it was just ok. Glad Noel and Alison jumped in to defend her.

He also said Tashas showstopper looked professional when the sides had all spilt and the jelly flowers looked unformed.

Glad to see the arse end of Dana to be frank. If I had to go another week hearing her put unnecessary "uh"s on the end of random words, I would have lost my mind!
She reminds me of the TikTok trend where people say something but then moan “uhh” at the end of everything they say!! Noticed it from the first week, couldn’t concentrate on what she was explaining every time 😂😂

Just catching up and I’m sick of Tasha getting special treatment 😒

But did she last night?
Her showstopper looked really good, and they said it tasted amazing.
The signature went well for her too.
Her technical wasn't inedible, or totally wrong. It was slightly overbaked and not enough thyme. Nobody really messed up the technical last night, usually there's at least one or two complete duck ups so she was unlucky to come last IMO.

I thought he said 'that door' but maybe I misheard.
I thought it was my door but I’m not great at hearing when there’s other noises around.

The picture out there of Tasha’s showstopper is rubbish. I did think the side and layers were overall impressive though but the top, nope. Christy’s looked the most underwhelming but nothing was said on that. She will be in the final. It was obvious when they should have kicked her out a few weeks ago but didn’t

Hollywood has been overdue an exit for a long time, but this series it's particularly pronounced how detrimental he is to the programme.

The obvious biases, the perennial peacocking around certain women, the arrogance that comes with being the 'veteran' of the 4 presenters/judges.

The format has survived the departures of Mary, Mel and Sue, Toksvig and Lucas. It can very easily survive Hollywood, and tbh would benefit from some freshness in the judging.

I mean…

It could definitely do with some fresh blood dare I say some younger judges and have some more modern recipes I mean the technical is all a bit womens institute isn't it, I know that's the kind of idea but shake it up a bit I would love to see cherish Findon from professional bake off do a guest judge week 😉
