Great British Bake Off 2023

None of the others seemed particularly sympathetic to Cristy's blubbering when it was happening!
She did really well on the first two challenges (basically winning both) so I assumed they'd send her through on flavours even if the presentation of her showstopper was lacking.

It makes me wonder how much of her blubbering we don't see due to editing as, like you said, no one seemed overly sympathetic. She's really annoying. It's only cake...

I think Tash seems to shut down in stressful situations. It does seem suspect after she had a migraine in chocolate week and then said she can't pronounce certain words yet even conversationally she stopped speaking but I think she hasn't got very good coping skills under pressure. Maybe I'm giving her too much grace but I suppose it is difficult with all the cameras on you as well.

Cristy is doing my head in now. I used to like her but she cries over everything and next week is looking to be the same too. It wears a bit thin especially as she's a grown adult, she's not even that young! You can kind of expect it with Tash because she is much younger. Cristy cried last week and still won star baker so I expect she'll probably be in the final.

I like Josh as he quietly gets on with things and there's never any drama with him.

I get Tasha not feeling confident pronouncing certain words as I have a speech impediment, but I wonder why she didn’t speak for everything else but then sign the words she isn’t confident with.

Agree with everyone else who has said they don’t really have anyone they’re massively backing. Josh is really growing on me, but I feel like he was done dirty with the early edits.
Think I’m in the minority who did feel sorry for Christy!

I do feel a bit sorry for Christy. I think she's somebody who hasn't got a lot of confidence in herself. She's not all that comfortable when the camera is on her and then when something goes wrong she can't control her emotions. Like if that was any of the others they would probably have laughed and patched it, but she really panicked.

Was it last week or the week before that she said she felt like she had imposter syndrome? I think most people can relate to that feeling on some level, whether it's in a job or a difficult module in college, or even seeing a really good looking partner.

I don't really remember Cristy from the early episodes. Did they focus on her much in the edit? I don't remember anxious wailing. Perhaps there were too many contestants to devote much time to her. I'm just going to check if I missed an episode or two 😳

I miss the Scottish lady, the student chap and the young forager lady!

I quite like Alison, more than Matt and probably more than Sandi although I wish she'd be a bit sillier and off the cuff, like her old presenting style. I think it would suit Bake Off more. She seems quite restrained in her new era of presenting jobs, like she's trying to be more mature and sophisticated 😂

I know her old style was a bit marmite but it used to make me smile.

I was speaking to my friend about the show and she has a sister who has an implant like Tasha. She said that when her sister gets stressed or feels ill or is struggling with words etc she will revert to signing exclusively. I would imagine that Tasha feels more comfortable using sign language and maybe because she was doing such an ambitious bake that she didn’t want to stress herself out more trying to pronounce words. Could also be she’s embarrassed by not being able to pronounce words etc. I thought she pulled it out the bag with her showstopper.

When Dana said at the start she wanted either a handshake or star baker I knew she was most likely going to go haha.

I feel like Cristy’s cake looked pretty but using a mold when others had worked hard to create different shapes free hand seemed a bit like the easy way out?
