Great response, thanks, that makes sense. While I understood the fishing trip mystery I've always suspected that Owain Hughes might be an in joke in Wales and I was just being dim

I always thought the Owain Hughes joke was ‘do you OWE IAN (maybe welsh people said it ine?) HUGHES, as in do you owe him money - no I don’t.
I could be totally barking up the wrong tree though
