Aghhhhhh I can’t take anymore of my husbands choice of films & tv shows atm 😂

I love a lot of different genres of films and tv shows but sometimes I just want to curl up and watch a girly film or any film that doesn’t have a superhero in it or is set in space 🤣

What’s some of your favourite romantic comedies and moments? I need suggestions as I really want to have a cozy day on the sofa tomorrow and have a good laugh and cry at some good films! Hopefully it’ll take my mind off the impending Covid news 😂

First ones that have popped into my head are;

Pretty woman-Rodeo Drive moment and the red dress of dreams scene.

Dirty Dancing-the watermelon moment and “nobody puts baby in the corner” final dance scene!

Pretty in Pink-any scene with Duckie in it, I still can’t get why she would choose Blaine over Duckie 🥺

Say anything-boombox blasting Peter Gabriel’s “In your eyes”

The notebook-omg that ending 😭😭😭

I’d love to hear your suggestions!

I watched some of virgin river on Netflix yesterday, it was a nice break from the other half's choice of show! Not exactly a comedy but a nice watch all the same. Following for some more ideas ☺️
I love Netflix but I spend so much time looking through it that I sometimes just wind up putting on something I’ve seen before to save me scrolling through everything 😂

I love When Harry Met Sally which never seems to be shown on TV anymore. ITV have a habit of showing Love Actually or the Bridget Jones films a million-bloody-times and I’m crying out for WHMS! 🤣🤣 I don’t see it on the satellite channels either.

I digress. 😉

French Kiss is another romantic comedy film I enjoy, starring Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. I love the bit where she’s on the plane and at take-off her French companion (Kevin Kline) is saying, “the aeroplane is screaming down the runway” because her character is nervous of flying. I often think of this bit whenever I am screaming down the runway...although that won’t be for a while. 😩😉

Amelie is another which is hard to come by on the TV. I love the bit where she swaps her neighbours toothpaste for some kind of foot cream. 🤣

All of Me is another film I like, rarely shown. Stars Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin.

WHMS! How could I forget that one! That line he says at the end 😍

French Kiss, is that the one where he has a little plant in his bag?

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Sweet Home Alabama
Crazy Rich Asians - is a fun recent one
The Five Year Engagement

I’ve found my people! Rom coms are my comfort blanket.

My faves are anything written by Nora Ephron, The Wedding Singer and the classics like Breakfast at Tiffanys (I think it’s kind of a rom com, personally).

I will watch any old rubbish really, though. I just enjoy escaping into a world where the only thing to worry about is how to get the girl!

I love a good rom-com! I also like series like Hart of Dixie, Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias - if anybody knows any similar series that would be amazing as i'm on rerun number 35664330385 of gossip girl now.

I love any Reese Witherspoon rom-com, I loved Crazy Rich Asians, and I liked the Last Christmas Emilia Clarke movie although it was v. predictable

A bit of trivia for you...
Apparently the original ending had Andie choosing Duckie but the test audience hated the ending so they changed it and refilmed it with her choosing Blaine instead. I always thought Andrew McCarthy looked dreadful in the final scene and I couldn’t work out why. Apparently he’d had his hair cut for his next film so when PIP had to reshoot the ending, some time later, he was wearing a wig!

Another film for you...
Muriel’s Wedding - I love it when she walks down the aisle to Abba’s “”I do, I do, I do, I do, I do.”

Not a romcoms but...
The Lakehouse
The Bridges of Madison County
