Anyone else watched it

Just 2 minutes in and 2 ladies from the UK paid $2,000 EACH to come on an "Instagram vacation" to take pics on the pink LA wall

Just finished watching this.

It was okay, it would have been better if it explained why such vapidity appeals to young people.

Also, the woman in the documentary who said "I would much rather be an influencer than have to work at a restaurant”. I think this is an important economic factor that drives influencer culture.

The fake interior of a luxury jet was so sad.

I watched this last night and it all just makes me feel so sad. I can’t even find the right words for it but influencers are nothing more than billboards who get enough traffic going past to be a walking advertisement. It’s all so shallow, empty, vapid, and I worry about the direction society is headed in now with all this social media and fake fame.

I thought it was especially sad that people would pay money to fly from the UK to LA just to take a picture in front of a wall to post on Instagram. I went travelling in my 20’s, I saw real places, spoke to real people, I took pictures on a digital camera that I now have on my computer to look back on. Not staged, just things I saw that were worth remembering. You’d just take a quick snap, no filtering, or editing, or taking it thirty times to get it just right. I feel that a lot of young people are missing out on so much now to be a part of this influencer culture.
I haven’t travelled as much in the past few years due to life things but my friend has and she says it drives her mad when she goes to certain places, for example the tulip fields in Amsterdam and it’s just swarming with people taking and retaking pictures in ridiculous poses. I don’t know I don’t have all the words to explain what I really feel but I look forward to doing more travelling with my husband after the pandemic and look forward to really experiencing it myself and not through my phone. But I do actually worry that places might be spoilt by influencers 😠
