Another statement from the ebu:

"The Dutch artist Joost Klein was disqualified from the Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest following threatening behaviour directed at a female member of the production crew. Swedish police have investigated the offence, and the case will soon be handed over to the prosecutor in an accelerated procedure.

Joost’s behaviour was in clear breach of Contest rules which are designed to ensure there is a safe working environment for all staff and to protect the production. We are not pre-judging the legal process but, given the circumstances of what occurred and the fact that the police case will shortly be handed to the prosecutor, it would not have been appropriate for Joost to participate in the Grand Final.

The decision to exclude him was backed by the Contest’s governing body of Members – the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group – and unanimously supported by the EBU Executive Board, following a thorough internal investigation.

The version of events released in some public comments and on social media does not correspond with the statements shared with us and the Swedish Police by staff and witnesses. However, the matter is now subject to legal proceedings and there is unfortunately nothing further we can add at this stage.

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour at our events and will always take necessary action to address threats to staff – no matter who they come from."

Listen, if Joost threatened someone, he needed to be disqualified. But the sheer audacity of the EBU to claim they have a zero tolerance policy towards inappropriate behavior is laughable. If that were the case, more than one contestant over the years would have been disqualified.
I read that they updated their statement to say they don’t tolerate that behaviour towards staff specifically

I also want to note that the Swedish news that’s been reporting on this has been constantly changing the story of what has happened whereas the Dutch broadcaster has not

I still think the Israeli contestant from two years ago should have been disqualified for kissing/assaulting the hosts on camera, during the semifinal. He didn’t qualify for the final but that was some inappropriate behavior that seemed to have gone by without any consequences.

Was just talking to some work colleagues about Eurovision and one of them said she was disgusted with all the overt porn style sexual imagery and nearly naked people because she thought it used to be billed as a 'family show'.

I have to admit that I laughed at the Finnish guy with no pants and the Spanish fetish wear dancers (but I don't watch with any kids) so I do think she's got a point. Nobody had anything good to say about Olly 😀

I laughed at him too but it's only with the benefit of hindsight that I now don't find it as funny as I did... the same with the Spanish entry which I loved!! (The dancers looked like they were having a ball 🤣) But I understand why it would upset people.

It's such a shame about Olly, I was a big Years and Years fan and they have been played on the radio a good bit over the weekend and have reminded me how much I used to love them and his voice!

It's probably been said but Olly's song wasn't terrible. If it had been paired with a feelgood LGBTQ rainbow set, light show and male and female dancers dancing in mixed and same sex pairs it could've done alright. They should've taken much of his dancing out when it became obvious he couldn't sing and dance simultaneously. Have him strut around the stage with the dancers performing around him instead and dance a little in the instrumental section 🤷‍♀️

The theme they came up with was baffling and really didn't work. I'm no prude but how was it remotely family friendly! The costumes were hideous 😂

Croatia, Estonia, Finland (!) and Austria were my faves.

I'm sorry but Estonia was robbed. I don't know why I have such a fascination with the song 😂 my kids are annoyed it's being played ALWAYS
I actually don't think it's fair that only the top 10 get points, not when there's 25/26 in the final. Seeing as only the douze points is announced it wouldn't be any slower to give out more points to more countries.

Estonia weren't vocally fantastic (especially when they're up against people like France) but it was a bloody good song, and cracking entertainment.

Yes that's a good point 👉 😉
The points system hasn't changed from the old days when there were fewer countries.

I still don't like people being able to vote from other countries like America or before all the acts have performed. I know its a money making exercise but well that's just my opinion 🙂

@monza me neither, I keep relieving the final in my head and wishing Switzerland hadn't received so may points and ultimately won😭

For me Baby Lasagna was the clear winner and I adored the song and performance. One of my all time Eurovision favourites. ♥
I have actually added Rim Tim Tagi Dim and Mon Amour to my playlist!! Both brilliant songs imo, The Code is good but I actually find the start of it really annoying so there is no way can listen to it on a playlist, I'd just keep skipping.

Me and my friends thought it was a nice change men getting to show theirs naked butts on stage instead of women for once.
