I haven’t listened to many of the songs, I want to save them as a surprise for tonight. I’ve heard Sweden’s and I’m sorry but 🥱. Swedens entries are always soooo boring, don’t get me wrong, they always send someone good. But it’s just the same ‘cool pop song’ every single year, they take it too seriously imo. Just have some fun for christs sake!
I do think the UK’s entry is an ear worm, I’d probably like it if it was just on the radio but it’s not suitable for eurovision for me, I don’t think we’ll get many votes. I think we’ll be near the bottom of the board.
Ive heard the Croatian entry, Iooove the costume but the song is dreadful, and not even in an ironic way.
I’ve not heard Australia’s song yet but I’m excited about it just from the look of them, same with Germany. Looking forward to the Edgar Allen Poe song, can’t even remember what country it is. Saw a bit of the Belgian entry on the news, it looked pretty good ngl.

Sweden are soon determined to overtake Ireland's record (they may equal it tonight).

I watch Eurovision because of nostalgia Would sit and watch with mum as a child choosing our favourites. She died young in 1995 so it's a kind of connection to her.
That said I love the utter madness of it. I also loved Story of Fire Saga .... hilarious and summed it up in all its insanity
I shall we watching with me snacks ready

(I don't believe Zelenskyy should speak at the event)

I agree, she has an amazing voice and stage presence and that's what's carrying the song. If that song was by another singer/country it wouldn't even register as one of the favourites.

Ireland's reign is coming to an end but Ireland hasn't made an effort in over 20 years, so fair play to Sweden, but they take it so seriously the fun element of the contest appears to be lost on them.
 
I didn't know this thread existed til today! I usually lurk on a different thread but will be joining you today for the Big One tonight. Not heard any of the songs yet as I wanted it to be completely fresh for me tonight. Got the wine chilling in the fridge and the snacks are ready to go out later. Getting excited already :love:

She does absolutely if that was say an unknown singer for georgia or Latvia it wouldn't of made it through loreen could fart on the Swedish flag for 3 mins and people would still be like omg winner and i normally see why the swedes do well too yeah I'd love it if they just let loose one year instead of being so polished but like something worked for ireland in the 80s/90s maybe it works for them

It was different then though, it was largely Western countries participating so Musical tastes aligned a bit more. So you still had the novelty acts bit a decent ballad was guaranteed to do well. Now it's much larger, musical tastes are more diverse from one corner of Europe to another and to lazy old me at least it requires a huge effort to find 'that' song. It's why Ireland/UK success (between them they were pretty dominant) dwindled so much in the past 20 years.

I love the UK entry, it's super catchy but anything I support either gets evicted, eliminated or exterminated so it'll probably be nil points.

I actually loved Embers (enough said)

Aye good point we haven't helped ourselves with the songs we send we had a couple of good years ie 2002, 2009, 2011 and ireland need to change their selection process altogether it's not working I don't know how we're gonna do tonight if mae didn't sing well last night then the juries won't be giving us 10s or 12s and it could be hit or miss with the televote

Last year was a song called rockstar and I went to the loo during it I'm sure it was alright 😂 but he got minimal points from both jury and televote it weren't terrible it was just there not sure how they're gonna do its gonna do well or its not its 21st in running order

These days top 10 can be considered a huge result, it's why the Swedish attitude is annoying, they were annoyed the 'only' came 4th last year. Where's the fun in that.

You'd go away and think well the standard was high we did our best look at last year moldova (7th) and Serbia (5th) they were thrilled and Czech and Armenia was at lower end but people are still going on about their entires now (more or less on tiktok tho) top 5 is an amazing result when you had the likes of sam and chanel
