@knivesnflowers loved your summary the only thing I think for me to add was Victor (Greece representative) is just 16 so thought fair play to him the studio version just didn't relay to the live version for me the rasp to his voice just didn't make it to the live performance and it sounded out of tune I hope he was proud of himself regredless
oh absolutely! didn't know he was 16 until rylan/scott mentioned it tbh. the clip of only his dad and the estonian entry hugging him after slovenia qualified was heartbreaking. his performance was great and obviously he has his own singing style but it was the comparison with all the other performers that made it seem less successful than it actually was. felt a bit dated maybe?

also, does anyone know if/when we find out the semi final results in order? after seeing the final running order i'm so interested to find out how austria placed.

Why should they sit back and let Ukrainians do all the work? Haha maybe because THEY WON? Seriously, the entitlement 🥴

Something called a WAR interrupted Ukraine their chance to host the event.

The UK stepped in and have given us the viewers a marvelous spectacle, whilst also affording the Ukraine all the respect they deserve as the previous years winner. IMHO are blessed to have been given this fantastic opportunity.

So far it's been brilliant and I look forward to tomorrow nights finale. ♥

I know right, the cheek on us, not having the decency to exclude ourselves completely from an event we’re paying to host. 🙄 Go back to Mumsnet love, perhaps you can start a thread about the UK’s ‘cheeky fuckery’ over there.

I don’t really get the whole Ukrainian thing, the final has always been more about eurovision than the hosting country. Yes countries use it as PR for their country but all the staging is eurovision and sometimes the hosts aren’t even from the winning country- ie Mika last year. Half time acts aren’t always from the host country either I’m think Justin timberlake in 2016 and mika did it last year. The essence of Ukraine has been captured and honoured but it’s as much about ‘the Eurovision show’ as it is about the country hosting.

anyway back to the show I am finding Norway is a real ear worm as well! Have been singing it loads the last few days. It’s really grown in me.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but in a number of songs the backing track is so loud that you can't hear the words that the singer is supposed to be singing. To me it definitely comes across that there is a problem with the sound quality as a number of singers have sang the song much better on previous occasions.

Neither did I I didn't think he was much older 19/20 but didn't realise he was 16 oh bless him he just didn't have any back up the backing track seemed to swallow him? If that makes sense 😂 but the studio version is really lovely shame it didn't translate to stage I do hope he's alright and he carries on singing and maybe comes back in a good few years and smash it and usually the Sunday they release the results of it possibly Monday

It's a shame we're performing straight after Croatia... it's got a lot of stage presence. Rather nice to be closing out the show though :)
Germany will do alright I think

I find it so interesting that it’s not felt we are representing Ukraine enough. I think it must just be that way on tv surely nobody currently in Liverpool can say that? We are hosting raves at the same time as in Ukraine so we are all joined together, the tagline is constantly mentioned that it is Ukraines party in our house, our landmarks are all lit up every night in Ukrainian colours, EuroVillage has has so many amazing Ukrainian acts this week of all genres of music, the Ukrainian section of the village is fab to buy native goods and learn about what they are facing, I haven’t actually seen a uk flag once.. all of our shops are adorned with Ukrainian flags (or bunting of all participating flags), every act playing in the village or in bars is mentioning us standing with Ukraine.. the list is endless I’ll have missed so many more prominent things our city is doing 🙈 I would be interested to know what more the city could have done?

Unless you are talking about the bbc coverage? The bbc is a whole other subject.. the men in suits down in London don’t get it like us scousers do.. we are having a ball with our international brothers and sisters 🎉

My thoughts would be to see what they do tomorrow. Lots of people don't bother watching the semis. I normally do but completely forgot Tuesday's one and had technology problems last night.

That's so nice to hear, sounds like a fantastic atmosphere!

The BBC coverage in the semis did feel skewed more the the UK for me. The Ukrainian host didn't seem to get as much air time as the other two, so I'll be interested to see what happens tomorrow night. I know this isn't the first time we've hosted on behalf of another country, but this is the first time that it's because of a war (to my knowledge), so I'm not sure what the precedent is for hosts.

I think because I watched the semi’s in the euro village I must have got more of a Ukrainian vibe than on tv, especially as Jamala performed for about 45 mins before they aired the semi final last night. I’ll be spending Sunday hungover and catching up on all the tv coverage so I guess I will be able to judge better then 😂

It definitely sounds like it’s the tv coverage! I thought that the Ukrainian host was cast aside whilst Hannah and Alesha had the limelight. I found them both rather irritating! 🙈 I can imagine the atmosphere in Liverpool being brilliant! Hopefully there will be more representation tomorrow night on the main show.

Watching Loreen perform Euphoria and she’s singing it differently. Don’t mess with a classic. I swear singers do it because 1) they’re bored of the song 2) so you can’t sing along properly 🤣

I think it is absolutely this. since last year's announcement that we would host "on behalf of ukraine" I knew the bbc would try to make it a basically uk hosted contest. I know we pay loads for it and, much more importantly, we just bleeping love it!

I'm really glad liverpool is displaying ukrainian culture and I really hope that we see more ukrainian representation tomorrow

I have a vague recollection of the 1980 contest when the Netherlands hosted for Israel. Obviously a much more low key event than now but I do remember each song being introduced by someone from that song's national broadcaster and the only reason I remember that was I recognised the lady who introduced Johnny Logan, she was an RTE lady. God, I'm old
