This is where we've gone wrong before, putting forward famous acts and thinking that's enough to win. It isn't. It's more about developing a following in Europe and on social media. As well as a decent song that's written and developed with the competition in mind.
Tbf, if he’s willing to do that and has a decent song it may be fine. I’m not sure how good he is with live vocals these days though?

I do fear that the public will expect to get top 5 or win and that does set expectations very high for whoever gets picked though

He wouldn't be a good representative like Sam was. He's just past it for me is Robbie.
Yep, I used to like him in the 90s but his day is gone. Blue 2011 vibes. Let's see some new talent at Eurovision.

I worry a little that if the act next year does badly, or does ok but not amazing (e.g. 12th), people will turn on Eurovision again. The public and media must accept that for us to be part of the Eurovision spirit, we must accept a few good and bad years and not turn on the performer or the BBC if they do bad or average (provided the BBC genuinely tries to make an effort).
What's not acceptable is a long run of bad years like we had before Sam Ryder, it indicated that the strategy had failed (Ireland for example is on a bad run, and it's the fault of RTE who deserve criticism). Brooke was a lovely person, got into the spirit and did her absolute best but the song just wasn't good enough. The RTE national final was absolutely awful.

exactly, I would rather see some new/lesser known act given the platform and possibility rather than just someone who is well established

I also presumed (wrongly) that entries had to be from new artists, but I think it should be kept for unknowns for people starting out with limited success. What I love about it is hearing these new artists and finding some gems of songs.
I don’t have a problem with Robbie but it’s a no for eurovision. He should stay in his mansion in LA.

Just in case anyone still cares about the broken sun stage ;) here's a video from the crowd showing what the LED screens were showing behind it, rather interesting if you (like me) just can't let it go 😁

Robbie only wants to be the 2023 interval act to promote his new album. He has no intention of representing the UK.

Many Eurovision fans not only from the UK but also across Europe and Australia liked following Sam on his journey from March 10 because he’s a genuine fan of the contest himself and he’s so likeable and relatable. He enjoyed every second and is grateful for the experience and respected everyone he met along the way fans and press. I don’t get that impression from Robbie or Steps or even Ed Sheeran for that matter.

Tonight Sam performed in Glasgow at his first post-contest concert. He said he was happy to finally be able to sing his *other* songs rather than just 'Space Man' again! Even though he owes so much to it.

He said: “I dream one day that I can collaborate with Sia because if there's one thing I've learned in the past few months, it's that you can never dream too big"

They played his original song WHIRLWIND on Love Island so he’s definitely made it 😍

It’s really obvious Sam’s got a strong fanbase that have followed him since way before Eurovision and have watched all his videos and at his first concerts when nobody really knew who he was. He’s performed at two of the biggest events of the year and now he’s back enjoying singing with his fans (a much bigger audience!!) and lots of them know every word to every song he’s written so far. It must be so lovely for them to see him be so successful. Oh and Sam was born to be a performer!

the split at the end ??? okay sir
I am not a man but that looked like it would have bee painful :ROFLMAO:

Keep hearing that as runners up that if Ukraine can't host next year, the UK will
get to host.
I imagine that will be the case, unfortunately it looks unlikely the Ukraine would be able to, unless they host in another country but stll act as hosts? could that be done?
