Euphoria

that was a waste of how many minutes? i totally skipped that scene and have on every rewatch since
Same. I kept fast forwarding hoping it would be done but it was still on! 😑 It’s not a bloody musical.

My favourites are Maddie, Lexi and Fez. I love Zendaya, but the whole drug thing was a bit repetitive this season. I could live without the others, tbh. Nate is a one note villain/hole, and I wouldn’t mind seeing his comeuppance, but with the next season not due til 2024, they’re all gonna be married with kids and celebrating their 10th wedding anniversaries (slight exaggeration, but how long are they going to keep them in high school for when they look like they’re in their early 30’s?!)

Enjoyed it, cried through a lot of the episode. But I do have to echo what everyone else is saying, too much time on Eliot who I have no interest in at all, also the Rue and Laurie storyline, and the Maddy/Samantha storyline, just dropped and they are way more interesting than a dickmatised teenage girl. I also find myself wanting more from the bit players, the young women who vapes that is close enough to Maddy/Cassie/Kat that she is invited to Maddy’s very small birthday party. We know nothing about her yet it feels like we should. Lexi’s pal/assistant in the play. Faye-what an MVP she was this episode, seems to have a really interesting back story, but all we know is that she is the girlfriend of Custer/heroin addict.
I do like that it is so obvious to all that surround him that Nate is a psycho that his only friends are his mum and Cassie. I don’t think they are doing a redemption thing with him, more that even really evil people are effected by childhood trauma and are not awful all the time.

i think if there is anything i’ve learned about the quality of TV now, it’s that some shows are just not about continuation of plot devices anymore and more about the style and substance. like the disappointing end to Sharp Objects and the sheer chaos of plots in Succession.

it was also easier for me to suspend disbelief on a lot of things here because i’ve not watched Season 1 (i will be though) and skipped episodes where recaps have shared how graphic they are. but i can still appreciate the intensity of the relationships and friendships in this show.

maybe it really isn’t that deep?

i think they were all either teens or twenties and only Alexa Demie is in her 30s! i’ll have what she’s having!

Yes definitely, Handmaid's Tale is another one where it just does what it wants and doesn't really care what the audience thinks as they know people will still watch anyway.

handmaid’s tale is a perfect example. it’s all set up to look amazing and have great scenes, but the actual plot just meanders all over the place. it’s similar to peaky blinders, which has completely random music video walking scenes in it. it looks great, it’s incredibly stylish, the performances are good but when you break it down - what’s the actual plot?

the tone of euphoria is weird to me because it wants to be deep very badly and take itself super seriously but it’s simplest relationships are the most involving ones from a viewer pov.

i did love how the audience at the play seemed to confirm that the rest of the school basically hates that whole group though. i feel like i would hate them too 🤣

i can't believe alexa is 31 😱😱😱 i'd sell my left boob to look like her now in my 20s let alone in my 30s

She had a sex scene with an 11 year old boy when she was around 28 years old

How some of you guys know there won't be a new season till 2024?
I couldnt find any official statement about that.

Thinking about there won't be new episodes for 2 years pisses me off. I understand most of the shows show new episodes after a year because the production need their time but even after a year i mostly forgot what happend. So thinking about two years i can't even tell you if i would be still into the show.

@AllSeeingEye123 yes the scene is pretty much uncomfortable to watch but mid 90s is a good movie, you should check it out.

I feel like the world will have moved on in 2 years.

People were okay with the gap this time because it was delayed with covid, season 1 was stronger with better story setups and the special episodes tided us over.

Season 2 gave no real reason for anyone to stick around for another couple of years. The viewers and actors will be significantly older by then too.

Season 3 ‘estimated’ to arrive late 2023 or early 2024. When I first started watching S2, I’d completely forgotten who all the characters were and I had to rewatch S1 again. 2 years in between is too long. I also didn’t bother with those two in between episodes.

Tbh, the ending of S2 was a bit like they weren’t expecting to make any more. There were loads of loose ends, but Rue’s voice over was kind of final, with the bit about Jules and staying clean til the end of year.

Minka Kelly's character was a bit of a letdown. A bunch of comments online were saying they got "groomer vibes" from her and the way she interacted with Maddy, but I just found a Vanity Fair article that explains her role as "being an older version of Maddy". The only way I see this paying off is if we see what Maddy gets up to as she moves past the Nate-Cassie debacle.
I know during one scene, she tells Samantha she's leaving, but this is a bit unclear, like is she graduating that year or is she just picking up and leaving town?
.

The constant time jumps are also confusing as hell! Especially
when it jumps from Rue and Lexi having their heart-to-heart and then cuts to the end of the play.
. It kind of forces the audience to piece together the puzzle ourselves.

But all in all, I enjoyed the season. Satisfying bits that happened:
-Nate getting f*cked up by Fez (although a bit gratuitous).
-Jules defining femininity on her own terms
-Cal's backstory and then his foyer scene.
-Rue's night of running/escape
-Barbara's last scene lol
-Ethan killing it in Lexi's play
-Sydney Sweeney's acting chops on full display
-Faye!
-Fexi!
-
Maddy slapping Cassie!

Eric Dane said in a recent interview that filming will most likely start in November, so S3 probably won’t air until late 2023/early 2024. I really hope they film more special episodes similar to Rue and Jules’ to at least fill the time.

I didn't think much to the last two episodes. The play episode was boring imo

I read that orginally Fez was suppose to die but it was changed an hour before - I think I'd have stopped watching if that happend!!!

I think the last episode was very all over the place. Cal deserved what he got!
Something will come of Laurie, it will be unexpected.

Love Faye!

Wasn't Fez meant to die in the first series then they writer changed his mind?

I agree, messy series. I do hope season 3 ties some loose ends up. Surely the tit with Laurie cannot be forgotten.

I'll be happy if I never see Nate or Cassie again. Totally ruined it for me. Cassie got on my nerves. Highlight of last episode was the slap off Maddy.

Love Faye
