Such an unpopular opinion but I love Meena. She’s unhinged, sociopathic, and an absolute pantomime villain so her acting doesn’t need to be all that. Hope she takes out half the village tbf, at least she’s funny

Yes I was born and lived quite near there for years hence my reference to Wakkey (Wakefield) where they still dress like that - next to nowt on on a cold Saturday night in Yorkshire (like many cities these days)

Watching old Emmerdale and Bernice used to me much more tolerable, almost likeable. Back when she was banging Chris Yate IRL. She's always dressed old-fashioned though.
I enjoy it far better than current Emmerdale. Marlon was funny, not a misery guts like he he is now and Diane was more enjoyable to watch back then also

Jimmy is another irritating character for me. He used to be one of The King brothers, but he has turned into this complete drip. He’s the village idiot. He needs killing off. Nicola needs to stop over acting. Obviously making the most of every scene she can get, as all the wooden tops seem to be getting the limelight (as they need all the practice they can get!)

Talking about Jimmy - does anyone else think that the person that plays Bear looks a bit like (and sounds like) Jimmy? I always think he would have made a perfect Uncle character for him rather than Paddy. It's something about the nose!
(no-one in my family agrees, so I do feel like I've gone a bit crazy but I can't stop seeing it!)

I never understood why Jimmy was the King brother they didn't kill off.
The one who played Matthew wasn't the best actor in the world, but he was fine in that role and it was reported at the time that he didn't choose to leave.
The one who played Carl may well have wanted to leave to do 42nd Street but I have a faint memory that he didnt want to leave Emmerdale altogether.

The show is top heavy with people who aren't good actors and it is suffering for it.

Characters played by people who shouldn't be allowed to call themselves actors in my opinion are -

Im not too keen on the Lydia actress either. Its not that she can't act it's that I can see the actress acting, if that makes sense?

And, please writers - give poor Marlon a lucky break!
Poor bloke lost his wife Tricia then lost Donna and now he's going broke and his daughter is being bullied. Give him some happiness and good fortune for goddness' sake.



I too am really enjoying watching the Classic Emmerdale episodes more than the current show.

I hated her at first because of her acting but she's become a bit of a guilty pleasure
I feel like the bad acting is less noticeable now because she's supposed to be a weirdo anyway

This week has so much potential and I am excited for it. However with the quality of writing at the moment I think it will be a huge let down. Such a shame as it has huge potential.
