I feel like they’ve done the Lola storyline at the right time kind of? Like it just seems to highlight how cruel life actually is. Cos in real life you often hear of people saying they’ve just done xyz and finally things have fallen into place then they’re hit with a diagnosis or something similar. So sad, I do feel sorry for Anyone watching who’s been affected by it. It’s a hard enough watch as it is

What were the Asian family in the early 00’s called? They were hammered by the viewers and public.
Ray Panthikini (may have misspelt that) played one of them.
They didn’t last long,

The Ferreira family?
They were awful, none of them looked vaguely related, they just stuck a bunch of random various brown actors together and hoped for the best. Didn’t the actor playing the dad get his visa revoked? (Im probably misremembering)

The Masoods at least looked like they could be be related with at least each child looking a little like either Zainab or Masood even though none of the actors were of Pakistani heritage, it still looked like they put some thought into the casting process.

That’s the ones, yes not great casting at all and the visa thing rings a bell.

The Ferreiras were awful. They were just the usual bunch of Asian stereotypes you see in every drama. Every now and again they chucked them a storyline and it just flopped.

I do miss Zainab and Masood. Watching the old episodes from 2010ish they were such a big part of the show. I’d like to see them come back with Tamwar (not Sayed though. His storyline with Christian went on forever.)

i miss zainab and masood too! as characters they also integrated really well with the rest of the square and i always enjoyed their storylines.

tamwar is off having a major hollywood career though so i think they’d have to create an excuse as to why he would never visit them 🤣

(speaking of, i would never have expected that tamwar would end up being by far the most successful of his generation of ee actors. he’s been great in everything i’ve seen him in since so maybe ee just never gave him a full chance to show what he could do!)

Watching the 2010 episodes. Forgot how much of a good character Christian was!

same!! he’s another character who left a gap that they never filled imo - but when you watched the older episodes you realise how much all the characters actually interacted with or had friendships with each other. they all seem to exist in small bubbles now and only speak to the same people.
