Vinny, dear lord that actor must go home at night and just flop into bed after a long day of moching around the square feeling sorry for himself. He drains the life from me just watching him so I can't imagine how exhausting it is to play that character.
I'm actually quite fond of the Honey and Sam friendship they are trying to create. And please can the writers just get Suki back to the wicked witch of the square who it turns out we all actually loved to hate. In true eastenders style after a massive storyline, and on average 25 minutes of screen time per episode, Whitney and Zak are nowhere to be seen. Not that I'm complaing because it just got irritating and I can't take to Whitneys character. But they do this all the time, not even so much as them walking past on the market. Linda's husband died and after she came back she's practically been awol, Amy's self harm was built up and then it seems as though she's had a few rocky therapy sessions, Denise picked up her medication and all is almost forgotten about.

Also Jean's bedroom walls are giving me children's ward in a hospital vibes.

Watching all the grown ups on EE treat a child
pregancy as if it’s a “normal” thing is awful. Hate the daily fail but I’m not surprised people are up in arms about it. Not one single adult around the character of Lily has given her some cold hard truths other than Whitney.

Her mother is trying to be her best friend and even though she can’t look after the kids she already has she is planning to sink further into debt by looking after another one.

Where are Social Services? No way would they just sit back and have no involvement, with Lily’s family history and the way they’ve all behaved when SS came knocking would have meant there would be a lot more involvement.

They are trying to normalise something that would be and has made headlines when it’s happened irl and reached the media. What planet are the writers on?

Maybe it's a good thing lily's going ahead with it because it shows that life isn't always straightforward if you get pregnant that young. If she has the baby they will show her struggle in storylines and miss out on things that people her age are doing.

The reality is if girls got pregnant at that age, not all of their parents would be against it. There would always be someone who would react the way they have on the show so it's interesting to see from that side as well

I think it's important they don't portray it as a fairytale because it would encourage young viewers to think raising a child is easy

Maybe I grew up in a parallel universe but loads of kids on our estate had children at that age (early 2000’s) . It’s not as strange as this tattle thread makes out and it wasn’t all social services and shunned kids who are locked away.

I’m not really sure what people are expecting eastenders - a TV drama to show? A traumatic abortion and Lilly being as depressed as Whitney for the next few years?

Lots of 12yr olds were getting pregnant?

Jesus where did you live? Alabama? West Virginia?

Sadly I don’t think they will adequately portray what it would be like to have a baby at that age. I’ve never seen a show that really portrayed what motherhood was like, not completely, so I don’t think it would be possible. Also, they’ll forget she has a baby after a few weeks, at least until the baby is 7 or 8 and becomes an annoying sassy kid character.

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe reading that. It definitely isnt just this tattle thread that thinks its strange. Sure, there were always a few teen pregnancies in every school. But not at 12 years old. That most definitely is a reason for ss to be involved.

Under 13s would need SS involvement as they can't consent if 14/15 yes they can happen and not always ss are involved but in Lily's case they definitely would and do a much more thorough assessment than they did

Showing teen pregnancy on eastenders isn’t really that shocking.

what about teen mums on mtv?
there was a couple of girls in my year at school that fell pregnant.
I think it’s alot more common than people think.

let’s be honest here..parents need to have conversations with their children. My parents always spoke to me about it and I actually went to the doctors with my mum to get the pill when I was ready. The problem is so many parents are embarrassed to have these kinda conversations then wonder why they have a pregnant teenage daughter.

Tbf all the teen mums on mtv have been at least 15/16. They’ve never shown a 12 year old

I think teen pregnancy is a lot less common than people think. The numbers have been dropping since 2007 and only 13.1 births per 1000 are to an under 18 mum. There aren't even official figures regarding under 13s getting pregnant because it's so rare. Regardless of how common or rare it is, I don't think Eastenders will address it very well. How many mums on Eastenders struggle to find baby sitters? How many show how much hard work having a child is? With Lily, we'll have a few weeks, possibly months of her struggling with being one of the youngest mums in the country and then the baby will disappear and we'll see Lily out doing what teenagers do. It's ridiculous that no one has even spoken to her about how hard it will be for her.

I think the writers probably haven't tackled the adults telling her how difficult it will be because there would be a lot of people moaning that they are trying to scare etc. But I do absolutely think that they should maybe have had a dr and midwife explain to her or at least stacey and Jean the impacts it will have on her body as she is still growing, how would a 12 year olds body physically cope with the changes of a bump, strain on their hips and back, the pregnancy hormones along with the puberty hormones. If they really wanted an underage teen pregnancy I think they should have went with someone maybe 15 turning 16. Social services have been very very absent in the situation as a whole, which is just ridiculous. She's 12 years old and wouldn't give the father's name at first then announced it was Ricky, which I'm still not sure about.

2 girls at my school had children young, the first at 15 and the second at 14
