Are we supposed to sympathise with Reiss?
His wife had a stroke so there's a possibility that she might get better, meanwhile he's gone off for a bunk up with Sonia.
I would've been more sympathetic to him if his wife had dementia and what happened to his home with Debbie?

Has Alfie discovered Phil’s magic money tree? 😄 One minute he's skint but a couple of shifts in the pub now means he has enough for a flat.
Amazing.....Meanwhile the remaining adults at the Slaters can't scape enough together despite their combined jobs (Bap Van proprietor, legal Advisor, Cleaner, Taxi driver and Only Fannys stripper) 😄

Just coinciding with Janine getting released who comes back with her baby PorkSteak (Mick Jr) to smash Linda over the head with the queen vic statue because she’s not only lost her Mick but her Lambchop as well, there’s a mass brawl and Shirley returns with Lady Di who savages the lot of them

then the vic sets on fire
 
Couldn’t give a rats arse about Sonia or Reiss, it’s a storyline that has been done before with small or negligent variations. Either fill out and develop older Sonia’s character or give her the chop.

She is a career EastEnder and they haven’t a clue on how to feature her on the show without turning her into some annoying bore or adding her to some not very funny comic relief storylines.

You know a character is on the way out when they change their personality completely and then feature them in increasingly dull storylines.

To be fair, Sonia's always been a bit of a ballache of a character even when she was younger but she definitely did used to have more things going on whilst being annoying. She was good with the Jamie stuff and the baby/rivalry with Pauline but shes not really done much of note in the last few years. They need to recast Bex and have more storylines with the two

Wife's had a stroke, he goes to a funeral and next thing he's sleeping with Sonia and moved in. Just doesn't fit the character. How long ago did she have the stroke? Is there no chance of her getting better? Where is her family? Did he have to sell the house to pay for her care? So many questions that should have been answered initially. I might have missed if they were answered because him taking Sonia to meet her caused my eyes to roll so far back into my head.

I was wondering these things too. It was poorly explained. She wasn’t wired up to machines or anything and seemed to be in a care home type environment, so she might get rehabilitated? The only way this story could get interesting is if the wife wakes up and Reiss has to decide whether to stay with her or keep blowing Sonia’s trumpet.

Or she turns out to be a total nut job. It depends on their popularity as a couple. If they’re a popular couple she’ll end up being a psycho. If unpopular Sonia will selflessly hand him over when she wakes up.
