Didn't Phil grass someone up a while ago? Was it Jagger? I remember him taking someone to a police station, sure it was Denny to deal with that gang that groomed Tiffany. Also, didn't he grass Ben up when he thought he'd killed Lucy Beale? Phil's probably one of the biggest grasses on the whole square

He did inadvertently after reading that link. I think he made sure to look out for Sharon and Denny from then and it stems from the guilt which in true easties style has been completely forgotten

I did wonder that myself and particularly how the scenes with her and Phil have been played.Since the flash forward I've had an inkling that the wedding taking place will be Sharon and Phil's. This weeks episodes have me convinced I'm right.
And why are they waiting so long when they just need to pop down to the registry office? as they hate Phil and love Shazza
