Just wondering if anyone has watched this three part on BBC2? Have to say it really surprised me how many twists there were in the story. Obviously so tragic for the family
I take your word for it that Jiah wasn’t that big a deal not being an expert on the Bollywood. However like all film industries there are plenty of people who string along young hopefuls. Jiah was from a privileged British background and was exploited but couldn’t bring herself to tell her family that her career and relationship were not as great as she hoped they would be. I did get the feeling that she thought she could deal with being typecast and even own her ‘bold’ image. While she had a nice life unfettered by the conservative social rules that other young women in India had to adhere to. It was naive of her to think her ex boyfriend was anything but the protected marginally talented offspring of typecast movie villain. It is yet another tragic cautionary tale about the pitfalls of the movie industry.Watched this as recommended by a friend
I was saddened by her death.
I was disturbed at the home videos, too "bold" for a teenager and her mum didn't seem mind her performing for friends or at parties.
Her family are understandably in denial of her suicide. Also delusional about her career, she wasn't a very famous and well known actress.
You could see the genuine pain and anger of her sisters.
Her ex bf came across insincere, scripted and a spoilt brat. I didn't trust the lawyer family friend who saw Jiah's body. BFs father was a wannabe badass family man.
The only part I'm suspicious of is the missing tracksuit.
