Dancing On Ice 2024

Last Sunday’s show got 2.9 million viewers, it’s lowest ever

According to this article:

“Fans have outlined their demands to show bosses, it's now up to them whether they take notice:-“
  • Move it back to Saturday nights although it would face stiff competition from the BBC’s Saturday night schedule
  • Torvill & Dean contribute to the stale feel of the show so it’s time for a change
  • Bring in a sister show e.g. like Strictly’s It Takes Two
  • We don’t get to know the pros like on Strictly because of the high turnaround
  • The whole show feels quite rushed, they don’t even have time for any opening credits

I do agree that we don’t get to know the pros as they leave after one or two series. Also I think we need to get rid of the Bolero in the final and make the contestants skate to their own choice of music

The real elephant in the room is Torvill & Dean. You can't have a show centered around two people who were last relevant 40 years ago unless they are still marketable now. Clearly not because they make for terrible judges, and they don't want to coach any more, so it's time to part ways. We're now at the stage where there also several generations who would have little awareness of who they are anyway, so again, not a viewer draw for the coveted younger audience.

He's a bit of a crackpot these days, but Jason Gardiner leaving was a huge loss (all because he called out GC). Robin Cousins should have been involved in the reboot as well. Not Ashley bloody Banjo.
