Dahmer - Netflix

Omg yes same with Hotel!! I didn’t get it at all (season 1 I enjoyed though some of the stuff like gif suit dude was a bit questionable). I’ve tried since including the AHS short stories and yeah, it’s the creepiness of his “subversive” stuff. He should stick to the more wholesome as he is actually great at creating historical eras - Pose, ACS etc. Pose was just wonderful, one of my fave series in recent years. Loved bianca and the gang… I haven’t seen Ricky in dahmer yet and I’m gonna keep a lookout now!

*gif suit that should say!!

*Ok it keeps correcting the word I wanna say 😂 but it begins with g and ends with imp!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 gas. Yes he 100% is a dodgy fucker that Ryan 😂

Pose is just 5/5. Story, acting, fashion, music 🎶

I didn't think Dahmer was a psychopath. The fact he drugged and suffocated his victims because he didn't want them to feel pain, definitely doesn't fit with him being a psychopath.

I thought he was diagnosed with borderline personality and psychosis. I wonder if his mothers use of pharmaceuticals during her pregnancy player a part.

I think he was just a really unfortunate mix of mental health problems, necrophilia, lonleyness and early alcoholism. If he hadn't been a necrophiliac he would have probably never killed anyone, or not on the same scale anyway.

I agree, there was definitely a huge case for the nurture side in a nature/nurture debate. And as you say people forget he was an alcoholic, not excusing one thing he did but addiction and mental illness are closely linked.

Yeah but there was obviously something different about Dahmer. Mental illness, addiction and a crappy childhood does not create a serial killer.

Not a serial killer, (well technically I guess he is because he killed 3 people and an unborn child)... Chris Watts is the one who scares me the most. Imagine being married to a man and he kills you and your babies, and you never had any idea who you were married to. That scares the tit out of me.
That man still haunts me everytime I think of him or see his name

Same! I've never been so affected by a murder case. I even started having dreams about Shannan screaming for help. I had to stop watching the youtube vids for my own sanity.
Me too!
I was too scared to go downstairs at nighttime on my own in fear of seeing him
Like he was so normal and a nice looking bloke not gonna lie!
And he did that to his family all because he wanted out the marriage
He could of ended marriage and still been with Nicole but I think she got in his head and brainwashed him

Obviously I know the Netflix series is a blend of fact and fiction, but does anyone else wonder if the dad knew what JD was doing …

There’s so many parts I find so hard to believe that it could be going on and you wouldn’t be suspicious
I think that they ignored the obvious signs something was very wrong- dad and grandma- because it was just easier. Lionel the dad was a fascinating character, I found it interesting his reaction to hearing about his ex wife’s suicide attempt, totally unaffected. Like he might’ve had those psycho tendencies too (along with his weird thoughts he alluded to) he’s just an example of someone who never acted on them, unlike Jeff, for whom each victim opened the floodgates a little more.

I think he did, at least have some sort of idea, same as the grandma. I think they just chose to ignore it

!!!!!!! This. I loved AHS. Stopped watching after ep 1 of hotel 🤢 I've always thought Ryan was a creep.

Also, pose is the best. Love MJ and Billy. Saw the guy who played Ricky was in Dahmer

Ryan loves to gaybait in his shows and always has shows with roles for young up and coming Hollywood actors and I'm sure he has a big hand in the casting (so to speak). His shows are generally awful and always glossy with little substance, there are the occasional exceptions though

Dad wrote a book which I'd be interested to read. I don't think dad knew he was killing people, but he knew his son wasn't right. Just didn't know in what way.

I don't think the dad encouraging the road kill dissections causes the necrophilia. I think Jeff already has an attractive to death, which his dad confused with scientific curiosity. The encouragement did probably make the necrophilia worse though.

Another inaccuracy was his dad and the roadkill di-sectioning

Folk definitely knew something wasn't 100% with him ( including the dad) being labelled as odd, strange, weird, he had a small friend group in his younger days at school but that does kinda happen as very young kids are accepting, as he got older no one seemed to want to be around him, though he did go to prom with one girl.
***I'm not diagnosing*** but to me he seemed like he was on the autistic spectrum too.
