Nobody has a good word to say about Anthony Cotton! And yet, he's still employed. What I want to know is what kind of scurrilous gossip he surely must have on the higher ups!

No one has a good word to say about him for two good reasons.

1) He plays a boring token gesture gay character in Corrie of no particular significance. Not even well acted at that.
2) AC is a nasty person in real life. Very bitchy and up his own arse in his own self importance, when out and about.

He really must have some dirt on someone in Corrie, he's so unlikeable!

He took himself so seriously when he was on dancing on ice. It was the first time I'd seen him out of character and I was so surprised someone who plays a comedy character appeared to have no sense of humour at all 😅

He often pops up on the Secret Celeb Gossip threads because he is universally considered a head and a lot of people think he must have something juicy on someone high up to still be there! His character was pretty one-dimensional the last time I saw Corrie but you could forgive that (a bit) if he was a fan favourite!

First time I remember seeing him was in queer as folk, which I loved, but in Corrie he's dreadful!

I still don't understand (even now) why ITV3 didn't start these reruns at say 1980. We could of then gotten to see life on the Street with legends such as Annie, Elsie, Ena, Stan and Hilda.

Even if they had of started at 1980, we would still be in the 90's episodes by now.

These reruns have essentially skipped the first 25 years of the show, except for a very small number of episodes shown during the 60th week.

ITV seem to be adverse to showing their really old programmes that were made in black and white (except b&w programmes made during the colour strikes). So seeing Corrie in full from day one was never going to happen.

Even if ITV3 did start the reruns from episode 1, Dec 1960, whose to say that they have every episode on file and in tact. A lot of programmes from the 60s and some early 70s have missing episodes because they were in the habit of recording over existing footage to save money instead of preserving it. They didn’t think about the future generations who may want to watch back old episodes. They were thinking about where would they store all of these tapes.

However I agree they could have started these repeats from a lot earlier e.g. late 70s/early 80s instead of Jan 1986 from Alan Bradley’s first episode. Same with Classic Emmerdale, instead of starting from the first episode without the Farm in the title in Nov 1989, they could have started from Clive Hornby’s first episode as the recasted Jack Sugden from Feb 1980

Starting from Dec 1960 would have meant lots of skipping of episodes so continuity from a viewer point of view would have been annoying

The Corrie archive is in fact near complete. Some episodes were wiped in the 60's, however they thankfully exist in the form of telerecordings that were made for overseas broadcasters.

List of what is actually missing in the link below.

Surprisingly next to nothing for a 60 year old show. Corrie fared much better than the likes of Crossroads, with much of the 60's and 70's missing.

Oh wow that’s good they’ve got nearly every episode in some shape or form. In which case they’ve got no excuse with starting the reruns from a lot earlier then (but maybe not the black & white episodes because as you say, they seem to think the audience don’t like watching something that is not in colour)

If you look at the list of missing Crossroads episodes, as a comparison:

The list is endless!
