Children's BBC in the 1980s

Grim Tales was amazing! I was a teen when it was on but I watched it religiously and recorded every episode. I had a big crush on Rik Mayall if I'm being honest ❤ He was a beautiful man when he wasn't pulling silly faces!

I'm interested that no one has mentioned Doctor Who, unless I've missed it - I watched it as a kid in the 80s when I was in a country that showed it (we moved a lot), but clearly it was falling out of favour!

Probably a bit before this but who remembers Belle, Sebastian and the Horses? Then there was the series that had the song White Horses as the theme tune and of course Follyfoot. I detect a theme running here.........................................;)
What about the Double Deckers as well?
In the school holidays -Champion the wonder horse, Robinson Crusoe,Swiss family Robinson,Flash Gordon with Buster Crabbe......Personal favourites were Why don't you ?, Banana splits and Scooby Doo.

I can't recall what channel it was on, but does anyone remember Chocky? I think it was an alien that befriends a child. I remember loving it, but also being a bit scared too.

I loved the American/ European cartoons shown in the 80s on cbbc. Cities of Gold, Dogtanian, Willy Fogg, Spiderman and his amazing friends, etc. However my favourite was Dungeons and Dragons. That was a well made, and often creepy, cartoon that ended its run with no resolution, the kids never got home.

I bought all of Dungeons and Dragons on DVD and my kids loved it when they were little. I never realised because I never watched it in order before just how little resolution there was! Poor kids are now heading towards 60 still being dicked around by human Yoda gremlin somewhere….

A local lad from where I used to live was in it. Not a main character. Had a massive crush on him.
Jossy's Giants gives me huge nostalgia when I hear the theme. Takes me right back to being 8 years old in the first year of junior school. I hated football as a kid but somehow loved that show.

Dungeon Master often seemed just as sinister to me as Venger. He seemed like he was just playing with the kids, and had no clue how to send them home, or didnt even want to?
