Childfree by Choice Holidays

Thank you, I was enjoying talking about travel.

I don't really visit CF destinations or take CF holidays, but we'll book outside school holidays a lot and check out Air BNBs etc. The best thing is being able to travel independently . We just book flights and a couple of Air BNBs, of it goes tits up we don't have to worry because there's 2 of us and no screamers
 
We do our best to travel in school term-times and don't particularly go for adult-only hotels. The one time we did was in Antigua and it was full of very loud Americans instead, so not much difference to the noise level round the pool!

Mr F is now old enough to book Saga and I'm old enough to go with him (travelling companion or family member has to be 40+), so that might be a new option to explore. Wish we could afford their private jet tour! https://travel.saga.co.uk/holidays/holiday-types/escorted-tours/private-jet-tour.aspx
 
I don't know about Saga because I'm scared it'll be fuddy duddy (I'm old enough) but my friend sometimes uses them for solo trips as she's widowed and she loves them. It works for her and she says she meets quite adventurous people..

It's just awful when kids spoil the buzz. When we went whale watching a child was running round the boat. Everyone else was sitting on the floor. He was trying to shove us out the way and his mum wanted us to move, we held our ground until the little tit stomped my ankle. I really thought I'd done some damage. Honestly I was raging. They were completely oblivious. I was hoping he'd go over the side 😂😂.

We'd successfully avoided kids up to then, apart from the gorgeous little Sri Lankan kiddies who were all sweet and gentle.

Oh that's interesting about Saga. My husband's a year younger than me and I'll be 50 next year.
Can't believe I'm discussing Saga holidays, not that long ago I was ripping the piss out of an older friend about them, now here I am 🤣🤣🤣

I've not been to an adults only hotel but last year on honeymoon, the hotel had a small adults only pool, on the opposite side of the hotel from the massive main pool.
Yup, you've guessed it, there were still parents who insisted on sitting by the adults only pool with their kids 🙄
 
Why do they do this? It isn't hard to understand 'adults only' It annoys me no end. I feel really tense with kids around a pool on holiday. I find myself watching the parents not watching the kids, then I'm all tense. On the Nicola Bulley thread someone posted about swimming costume colours and drowning and it's scary. Plus the screaming is unbearable.

I avoid big hotels and go off the beaten track now.

Ooh, lucky you! Never been to the Caribbean but hoping to go to Cuba at some point soon.

I know what you mean, I do worry about that too at times, but then I think everyone makes their own choices in life. Nobody forced them to have children 🤷‍♀️
I also don't feel I rub it in folks' faces either. I often don't even bother with any SM photos or posts. Unlike many parents who do nothing but splash pics of their kids all over SM.

No, I like to brag.
A co worker said to me once "you're never at home", (which was a complete over exaggeration).
I just shrugged and said "well I don't have kids, I can do what I want" 😬
 
Anyone been to the United Arab Emirates? I'm slightly nervous about MrF getting arrested after reading the Foreign Office advice, as he likes a cocktail or two on holiday and is quite prone to swearing. But we can't go on holiday until January 2024 (usually we go in November each year) and so we thought we might go and watch the SailGP there January 13th-14th. Not sure exactly where it is yet, it was Dubai this year but they might switch locations, it's showing as TBC.

Recommendations for good child-free hotels appreciated! Assuming it'll be Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

I agree I go non school holiday times and don’t think there are enough kids around to bother me. I think when I went to Greece in September there was one family I saw.
My friend always asks for a child free hotel but it just give so much less choice. Imo I’d rather a better hotel with kids than a worse hotel with no kids.
