Bridgerton

I wasn’t that keen either, found it all a bit tedious and thought they had zero chemistry. I read the book after to see what it was like and it was so much better - Anthony was a really sexy character and Kate was very likeable and they had a great relationship, unlike the pissed off angry one that they have in the series. Plus there was no Duke of Hastings to lust over.
I’m not feeling the two girls. Can’t even remember their names 🤣🤣. And that’s also it , I’m missing the duke 😭😭

I think it is a mistake to skip Benedicts story for now - and I think the casting of Pen / Colin is not right. I just can't see how it will flow ..
Yes … Colin, he just seems such a crashing bore!!! And Nicola coughlan’s personality has kind of taken over Penelope and she has become annoying (imo)

Hope it has some good side narratives if theirs is the focus

Nicola's personality foes take over Penelope and she is so different to the book Pen. I don't know how they will do Benedicts story now as Colin / Francesca and Eloise's are set in a similar time .. I had thought Benedict would be season 3 and a combo of the other 3 playing out for season 4.

I hope now to make it interesting that although Colin and Pen are the season 3 lead there is a lot of other stories playing out so I can forward theirs .. perhaps Benedict meeting Sophie for the first time, Francesca and her first marriage (esp with a recast maybe she is to have a bigger role) and now they have introduced Marina as a character they will have to include her passing unless they are going to change Eloise's story significantly ...

I agree, it would have made much more sense to combine those three siblings seasons as they happen pretty much at the same time.
I think that’s the only way to do it, introduce Sophie then have a season of Benedict looking for her - we the audience won’t meet her until next season though. I think they will definitely kill Marina off too to pave the way for Eloise. I think Francesca will be out in society and then be like ‘I’m getting married’ and everyone will be a bit surprised.

Yeah I admit I'd wondered if they would start combining stories and making each season have multiple storylines to maintain interest and avoid losing talent as they know once their story is up they get sidelined.

That would seem a much better way of doing it for me.

colin is cute but wasn’t he (in the books) meant to be an absolute babe in a family full of already good looking people? it’s been a little while since i read but i’m sure i remember everyone referring to him as the best looking bridgerton. the actor just looks so young to me too, considering he’s meant to be the third oldest.

like said upthread, nicola coughlan kinda takes over pen for me and i’m always aware that i’m watching her and not the character. they’ve got some work to do to make pen likeable again imo, and she’s my favourite in the books!

Yes, he’s supposed to be gorgeous, utterly charming and irresistible— tall and dark with emerald green eyes. Sadly my loins feel nary a tingle when they see the actor (can’t remember his name). He’s also around 30 when he finally decides to settle down. There must be loads of hot actors who they could have chosen, the mind truly boggles at a lot of the casting decisions. Did they pass out after casting the Duke and have to get the work experience kid in to cast the rest?

For those who read the books, how is Penelope described physically?

By the time her romance with Colin is covered, she is voluptuous/curvy and womanly, but has lost her excess weight. She is able to pick her own clothes and chooses flattering colours and so is far more attractive. I think she’s described as having big brown eyes and reddish hair. Colin can’t understand why no one has noticed how lovely she is. I think that she started out spotty and overweight and then just became a wallflower and people didn’t notice that she was actually very attractive.

Book 2 is the best (Anthony’s) and then book 1 (the Duke). I read upto Eloise’s book and then gave up as they were all becoming disappointing.

I agree, though I did like Francesca’s book as the hero was so hot. She was quite annoying though. I enjoyed Benedict’s story too. The books aren’t great literature, they’re not particularly well written and some of the plots in the later books are questionable, however, I found them very readable and good for a bit of escapism. I would suggest giving Anthony’s story a try and if you don’t like that one then don’t bother with any others as I think it’s one of the best, if not the best.

Has anyone seen Nicola Coughlan's Wimbledon Instagram pics? It seems like the glow up has begun! She looks the best I've seen her.

I mean she looks good, but looks like good styling and make up to me. Not sure how they'll fit that into a period piece (even with bridgertons loose interpretation of history)
