I completed the Bridgerton series over the Easter long weekend. The only reason why I watched the entire series was to get to watch season 2. I attempted season 1 but couldn't go beyond the first episode. I wasn't in the mood for it back then, I just had remind myself it's not meant to be like other period dramas, and it's not meant to be. Season 2 was so much better imho, but it's not like Daphne and The Duke didn't have chemistry, it was just that they were kinda boring characters. At least the second season, you have Eloise's debut, and I just think Anthony and Kate have better chemistry. The actors match each other's vibes in interviews.

As for Eloise and Penelope being cast to older actresses, maybe it's got to do with their character's stories. I'd imagine Eloise marries later in life, and Penelope hasn't had her swan moment. I don't know for sure if they will stick to the books or diverge, but I believe those characters don't marry soon after their debut into society. It'd be much later.
 
I couldn’t really get on with season 2 - I didn’t feel their chemistry at all, they just seemed pissed off and unpleasant to one another rather than passionate. I‘m currently binge reading the entire series of books and the Bridgerton brothers are supposed to all be tall, dark and devilishly handsome. I concede that Jonathan Bailey is nice looking, but the other actors don’t really live up to their book descriptions. Colin is supposed to be utterly charming and makes all the ladies swoon and has never fallen in love and isn’t very interested until....he is (I won’t spoil it for anyone who doesn’t want to know), they’ve made him really dull and unappealing in the series.

AGree with all of this.

I can’t get in to season 2 at all. Anthony just stomps around looking annoyed all the time and Kate is all tight-lipped and snippy.

Some of the scenes are so stupid. ‘Oh you’ve got stung by a bee! tit that reminds me of my father!’ ‘No no it’s ok, look, put your hand on my heaving breast!’ And then the wedding ring gets stuck on her finger of course 🙄

Colin is the most unappealing character possible- boring as a grey tea towel.

I think Benedict is attractive. He reminds me a bit of Matthew MacFadyen
 
Yep having read all the books moons ago the Netflix bridgerton boys didn't match the heating of my loins from the books. I want to swoon at them not think swat some bees.

However johnathon Bailey whom I don't normally fancy had me very enamoured in series 2.
Benedict could achieve that if he is less jokey.
Colin Astley, nope I'm not going to swoon I'm just going to play wordle instead.
 
How on earth does Nicolas “fake” Irish accent at the beginning of ep 1 sound so bad! Is she purposefully sounding bad? But why? She is Irish 😩
