Bridgerton

I'm glad I didn't read the books because I really loved S2, more so than S1, mostly because I find Daphne a bit boring (liked her much better in this season!). The chemistry between the leads was exquisite, though I honestly didn't care much about the other sub plots. Especially Eloise and Penelope really got on my nerves towards the end.

penelope really got on my nerves this entire series (and i like her so much in the books!) - pretty much everything they’re doing with the featheringtons in the show is just dull and not needed imo.

tvwlm is my favourite book and, as others have said, i was sad with some of stuff left out. the chemistry was 👌🏻 though

Right?! I could not care less about that Featherington heir and his schemes, and the mother is so one-dimensional. Truly, what was the point? Would have preferred to see more scenes with the romantic leads, more moments where they open up to each other etc.

I felt this is what was missing for me. Yes there were glances, yes there was the frustration but the talks and showing their vulnerabilities were missing completely

Spoilery post!

I must be the opposite to most here because I hated Anthony's book but really enjoyed S2. I felt it lagged a bit in the middle (the whole wedding episode) but otherwise I enjoyed the changes.

Agree with whoever said the featherington and Eloise sideplots weren't needed or wanted. I liked Eloise in the 1st season but couldn't stand her in S2. She comes across as self-centred and one dimensional. For all her faults, Pen was right when she said that at least she had DONE something. And she had saved Eloise with the queen, and there wasn't really any fallout so I felt Eloise was majorly overreacting. Also trashing her room was rude.

On a similar note, I was really over Edwina's bitchy attitude towards Kate when she realises that Anthony and Kate have feelings for each other. It was like a complete personality switch and felt really random to me.

I did love Daphne being a bit sisterly and a little more mature and I loved that they dressed her in her new purple outfits the whole time (the mix of Bridgerton Blue and Hastings Red) and I loved the interactions with Anthony and all the brothers. Plus Violet was a much more interesting character this time around. Just straight up loved all the family stuff this season.

To those who’ve read the books, are they worth adding to my reading list? Tempted to give them a shot!
I enjoyed them all, although there is a fairly repetitive pattern to each story though 😆❤️
I think my favourite was Francesca’s, my least favourite was Benedict which made me sad as he is my favourite character in the tv show but the book was just too Cinderella esq for me.

Just finishing Series 2, not sure I loved it as much as series 1 but still lovely. My main takeaways are the music choices are wonderful and Simone Ashley might just be the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen.

Love this season, Jonathan Bailey killed it! honestly we need more diverese shows like this, it is amazing to see so much diversity on screen. I don't get how hollywood can even think that an openly gay actor can not play a straight love interest. that's the whole point of it: acting.
I feel him being gay actually is a crucial reason why he was so good in this role: a gay man playing a male character written by a woman - he just intuitively understood the "female gaze" of the romance genre and wasn't afraid to show Anthony completely at the mercy of his desires, a "simp" basically. I mean just compare the Duke's "I burn for you" line, which I found quite cringe in its delivery, with how Jonathan Bailey whisper-shouts his lines into Kate's ear, with all that pent-up sexual frustration... Ah, it's just so good! He really just nailed it!

I loved the actress who played Edwina, I kind of wish they had given her better material. As I understand it, her character isn't really in love with Anthony in the books, and that would have worked so much better than the forced love triangle.

Yes in the book Edwina isn’t interested in Anthony and can tell he likes Kate. I’ve just reread the book and see that they barely followed it at all!

I think this is one of the things that annoyed me in the series. Caused an unnecessary divide and disruption to their sister bond which I liked. I liked in the book that Edwina dreamed of marrying a scholar too.
