Bridgerton

Just seen in the Daily Fail that they think it will be “tame” i.e. less sex.

I haven’t read the books so I have no idea if that’s fitting or not. I’ll give this season a go too - I liked bits of Bridgerton, I just hope it hasn’t already peaked.

There was plenty of sex in the book about this couple!

Unless the lack of sex scenes is due to them filming during coronavirus?

Has anyone else who’s read the 2nd book started the new series yet?
I just feel that they have changed so much that just wasn’t needed. The new Featherington heir and that storyline is so far so unneeded. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd book and was saving the 3rd for my next holiday but now I don’t want to read it until the full series of all 7/8 series have been released!

Not a spoiler I don’t think but the third book was my fave of the first three, haven’t got any further than that in the series :)

I read the reviews when embargo was lifted and I’m glad I did because it meant I had time to get used to the fact that this season isn’t a straight adaptation of TVWLM. However, I felt the essence of the story was still there - and they kept certain key moments too.

No spoilers but I loved this take on Anthony and Kate’s love story. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley were exquisite together and hopefully the show has learnt from its mistake with Rege Jean-Page and has them under contract so both Anthony and Kate can still play a role next season.

I didn't hate it and just love Johnny Bailey in everything he does,. But my god, they just completely changed their relationship and lost so much of what made their relationship so gorgeous in the book.
Definitely agree with this. I enjoyed it but not a patch on the book version of their relationship.

They also took out lots of lovely little moments that they could have easily left in. Like at Aubrey Hall when Cressida is being mean to Penelope, Anthony overhears and swoops in and asks her to accompany him to dinner. Kate sees that and it’s the first time she sees his kind and caring side.

I don’t have Netflix at the moment but was going to get it again to watch this second series but I’m put off now as their book was my favourite and it sounds like they’ve ruined it ☹️

I'm glad I didn't read the books because I really loved S2, more so than S1, mostly because I find Daphne a bit boring (liked her much better in this season!). The chemistry between the leads was exquisite, though I honestly didn't care much about the other sub plots. Especially Eloise and Penelope really got on my nerves towards the end.

I just said the exact same thing to a friend. She has read the first few books and was disappointed. But I preferred S2 as I found Daphne annoying. I much preferred Kate. But she was frustrated by the lack of character development compared to the book.
