Biggest miscasts in films

Leonardo di Caprio in 'The Beach'

I do think that Leo is a good actor but the character in the book was supposed to be an average looking British guy, who didn't have much luck with women. In the film we got handsome American Leo - a babe magnet.
Apparently the role was meant to go to Ewan McGregor but Leo got it due to the popularity of Titanic. McGregor didn't talk to Danny Boyle for a few years after that.

Ewan would have been sooo much better.

Anne Hathaway in One Day is up there for me - I imagined more of a Carey Mulligan type when reading it.
Also .. Kristen Stewart in most things 😂 there’s obviously something about her - she looks good on film, but she basically plays the same character over and over.
Anne Hathaway was just absurd, it is like they chose someone opposite to the character described in the book!
I agree about Stewart, she just has that standard facial expression all the time

Yes Ewan McGregor would've been a good fit for the part. What a shame.

It was obvious that they cast Leo for star power there.

I can't believe that Kristen has been cast to play Princess Diana 😳 she looks nothing like her and she's way too short.
Why couldn't they cast a British actress?

omg has she?! She looks nothing like her!!

Other than Emma Watson as Belle, Will Smith as the Genie. Awful, awful, awful. It should have been Terry Crews.
not a miscast as such, but I always found it weird Watson took that role, as someone always talking about feminism taking a role that effectively glorifies an abusive relationship seemed odd to me. I just don't think she is a good actress in general tbh, I was never into harry potter but saw one or two, but saw her in The Circle and The Perks of Being aWallflower and she was mediocre in both imo

Anne Hathaway in just about everything ... to me, she's the female version of Ben Affleck in that she ruins everything.

"The Intern" would have been really good with a different casting choice.

I loved The Intern in spite of Anne Hathaway. It was such an easy, kinda trash, but enjoyable film. But she just didn't work in the role.

And so many of the side characters were so much more interesting than her character.

She was terrrible in that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels type film she did with Rebel Wilson.

She’s great in Brokeback Mountain. I know Devils Wear Prada seems to be her defining role in a way, but she’s so outshone by Meryl and Emily Blunt.

Haha i enjoyed the dirty rotten scoundrels movie. But yeah it was dumb, but Friday night easy watching dumb.

Princess diaries, devel wears prada, the intern (I liked her in that tbh), brokeback and les mis I all liked her in.

😂 I enjoyed it too, I just didn’t think she worked (for me...)
Saying that though, I thought she was quite good in The Witches!

Johnny Depp in Charlie and the chocolate factory,he completely ruined it with his weird acting.
Definitely he came across as creepy rather than eccentric. I much preferred the version with Gene Wilder in the part.

Unfortunately Hathaway was nowhere near as good as Angelica Huston in the previous version of 'The Witches'.

Oh my god - no-one improves on perfection in either case! Angelica Houston was the definitive Grand High Witch.

Johnny Depp apparently modelled his version of Willy Wonka on Michael Jackson ...

Gwenyth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love - how she won the Oscar over Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth is something that still winds me up to this day!

Anne Hathaway in Les Mis and Russell Crowe in Les Mis
