Biggest miscasts in films

I've just found this thread ..

I said to my hubby 'most miscast actor in a film?' Without hesitation he said 'Tom Cruise, Jack Reacher. '

I knew he would as he has a real bee in his bonnet about it. He's never watched the film because of Cruise.

I also have to agree with the Emma Watson comments. She is a terrible actress.

Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan in Twilight. Bella is meant to be a clumsy, loyal and likeable girl but Kristen makes her dull, stroppy and boring with only one pained facial expression.
I’m going to get hate for this, but Rob Pattinson in Twilight for me. He just wasn’t what I pictured in my head from reading the books and he was much sweeter in the books not so serious!

Also, Tom Felton in Planet of the Apes - his accent was awful and it was like watching Draco Malfoy fight an ape!

Ohhhh forgot about Tom Felton in that. I agree, the whole way through I just kept thinking 'Hmmm, Malfoy's speaking a bit funny'

Dustin Hoffman in Netflixs 'Medici'.

This was a series that had all sorts of weird and wonderful accents in it (Sean Bean as a 15th century Italian for starters) but nothing stood out like Dustin Hoffman's American accent and his acting was really odd. He spoilt it for me but thankfully wasn't in it that much.

Same here🙋‍♀️I love the books but I have never watched the films because of Tom Cruise.

Don’t want this to turn into an Emma Watson bashing thread.. but... I hated her as Meg in Little Women 😩
I can’t watch a film with her in it as she’s so terrible. Perks of a Wallflowers for example. Was my favourite book as a teen and then she comes along and craps all over the film adaption with her tit acting.

I agree about Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast. She can't sing! It's really cringe. I think they should have cast an unknown singer/actress in that role. Casting Ewan as Lumiere was a bad move too.

I do hate how the older cast in HP are just too old. Sirius/Remus/Snape were all meant to be 31 - 37 during the course of the films and they cast a bunch of 50 year olds (As much as we love Alan Rickman). It just totally pisses on the fact that Lily and James died at only 21 years old. I can't pull at the HP thread too much though or I'll be here all day.

Don't even get me started on Johnny Depp as Grindelwald 🙄
I do feel that they got the casting better in the Fantastic Beast films better (apart from Johnny Depp but I think that’s because for me at least he’s been tarnished with recent events).

She's literally the complete opposite of Sam in the book

I watched The Mauritanian recently and I have to say Benedict Cumberbatch and Shanilae Woodley were badly miscast in that film.
Also Emma Watson in any role she’s in. She can’t act at all, I’m confused as to why she’s being cast.

The cast of Little Women was so strong I have no idea how Emma Watson got a part in the film.

I know a lot of people loved them but don’t like Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter as queen Eizabeth and princess Margaret in the crown. Hard to watch them straight after watching Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby who I think suited the rules much better. Plus their eye colour changed from blue to brown which really annoyed me 😂

Agree with this. Claire and Vanessa's performances in The Crown were very tough to follow!

I really disliked Olivia Coleman as The Queen. She seemed to think having a po face the whole time was the way to go. She just came across as miserable. Didn't mind HBC as much but she was no Vanessa Kirby.

Emma Watson I didn't think was bad in Beauty and the Beast, but they could have cast a stronger singer, someone like Anna Kendrick who has a fantastic voice.

For me, I cannot hack Emma Stone in La La Land. I'm not a fan of hers anyway (her speaking voice grates on me, its way too low) but to cast her in a musical defies belief. Her thin reedy voice lets the film down so much.

With his Sheffield accent?

Emma Watson in beauty and the beast was just so bad. I feel like she has ridden the Harry Potter wave but now people can see how little talent she has. I think batb and little women have started to kill her career

The Phantom of the opera movie was badly cast almost all round. Emmy rossum is just so bland.

Anna Kendrick in pretty much everything, permanent sucking a lemon face. Same as Kristen stewart

Les miserables, I actually found Hugh jack man worse than Russell crowe, while Russell singing was weak, he acted well and was believable. Hugh just can't act besides being himself.

Never understood how pierce got so much flack for mamma Mia yet Colin firth who is equally bad (possibly worse) gets off scott free.

Speaking of mamma Mia, Cher in the second one. Completely pointless, sticks out like a sore thumb and actually completely different character to how the mum is described in the original

Anne hathaway as catwomen

Going off that - Gwen Paltrow in Sliding Doors. I just didn't buy anything about her character. Like one of America's made for TV London accents as well
omg yes! I never understand such bad accents like this, there are millions of actors to choose from, why choose one who cannot meet the basic requirements?

I guess she was flavour of the month at the time. Always found her forgettable in anything she's in.

Cher was nothing but a bit of stunt casting that was totally pointless. She really irritates me in that film.

I also agree with you about Colin Firth but he didn't do as much singing as Pierce so I suppose he just about got away with it.

Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview with the Vampire. So,so wrong .IMO William Hurt would have been a much better choice.

I thought exactly the same after watching it
