Biggest miscasts in films

Ginny ( Don't know the accesses name) in Harry Potter - I've not read the books for years but from what I remember she was outgoing and popular. The one in the film is incredibly dull.

Emma Watson in Perks of being a wallflower - Emma seemed to have a string of appearing in American films and standing out like a sore thumb. This was one of them.

Rosie O'Donnell in The Flintstones - Couldn't be anymore different from Betty if they tried.

Rachel Leigh Cook in She's All That - Putting glasses on her doesn't instantly make her some shy, frumpy bookworm.

Also any film James Corden or Ricky Gervais has appeared in as their voices are so dominant and annoying.

I'll no doubt think of more

Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan in Twilight. Bella is meant to be a clumsy, loyal and likeable girl but Kristen makes her dull, stroppy and boring with only one pained facial expression.

I’ve not read the book, but like the films so I do find your analysis interesting. Is there anybody you can think of if you could recast?

Robert Pattison is also part of my dream list-does he fit the role of Edward well compared to the book?

Her name is Bonnie Wright and you are spot on, she is an extremely poor Ginny. As a huge HP fan, her performance massively bothers me. She just isn't a strong actress at all. Ginny is meant to be a very fiesty, bubbly character. In her very small defence, the directors and writers didn't get her to do an awful lot or explore her book character enough possibly due to time constraints, but the few lines she does have are just dreadfully delivered. I also think the actress that played Fleur was very wooden, not at all how I imagined her in the book.

I think when you've read the books there's a lot to pick out from the films lol. Loads of stuff bothered me at the time. Let's not even get into grumpy Dumbledore of the later films!

Yes I agree. Bonnie was badly cast as Ginny and had no chemistry with Daniel Radcliffe at all. I wouldn’t critise her too much as she was a child, but they should have recast the part later in the series.

There were also a number of adults very badly miscast in the HP films eg Slughorn, Lockhart and Trelawney. All played by excellent actors but wrong in the parts.

Gary Oldham wasn't at all like I imagined Sirius to be either! And Michael Gambon was wrong too. Its a shame they never cast Peter O'Toole as Dumbledore.

It was as if they just handed out parts to well known actors who never bothered to read the books. Lockhart should have been played by someone like Hugh Grant, Branagh really wasn't the right choice. Still I guess we all get ideas in our heads when we read books and then when they cast someone who seems wrong it's irksome.

Apparently a film is currently being made with Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana 🙄 that sounds like serious miscasting to me!

Yes completely agree about recasting Ginny. She fitted well in the Weasley family to begin with, but should have been recast possibly in the last two films perhaps??

Kirsten Stewart is in the new season of The Crown-I was quite taken aback when I heard it would be her playing the role of Princess Diana. Some of the stills from filming show a really close resemblance to Diana; I will have to see Kirsten in the role to make my mind up about this casting!
