I'm so looking forward to this - and so glad it is an Autumn/Winter series!
I feel like it is so suited for cosy nights at home watching

This isn't true though - it hasn't always attracted these types..?
If you look back through some of the classic years, there were so many contestants that were absolutely there for the experience and not 'fame hungry wannabees,' and they certainly weren't on any other TV shows.
I didnt realise it was being shown on itv1! I thought it was filling the love island hole on itv 2
Is it going to be on itv1 every night? that doesn't feel right for an itv1 show
I remember the first series where it was all so new the housemates didn’t even know what the theme tune sounded like and also if anyone was even watching. So innocent.
It’s so weird watching the first episode and hearing the difference in Marcus.I remember the first series where it was all so new the housemates didn’t even know what the theme tune sounded like and also if anyone was even watching. So innocent.

Also weird seeing them enter the house at 10.30 am with no crowd
Majorie the ChickenRemember Darren scared of the chickens having to feed them lol
And also how they were allowed in the first series only to look out the door on eviction nights and wave to their families (if they had survived eviction)
I think soIs it just the launch on ITV then the rest on ITV2?
I'm sad we've no Rylan for the aftershowI’m soooooo excited! I pray I’m not going to be disappointed! Gutted it’s not Davina though! ☹
Wow - I think the complete opposite. It has. Even in the original BB1 that people laud as being stripped back, the HMs were talking in the house about media deals and opportunities they might get once they get out. They may not have appeared as “fame hungry wannabes” because the term wasn’t coined or recognised as such at the time, especially with lack of social media, and the online landscape being much more new and innocent, but when they got evicted out of the house, three of the ten housemates went onto become presenters of TV shows, a couple more released flop singles trying to launch singing careers and all of them did Heat magazine/The Sun/News of The World weekend interviews after eviction.
Wow - I think the complete opposite.
Take a look back over past series, I really don't think the likes of Eugene Sully (2005), Derek Laud (2005), Jayne Kitt (2006), George Askew (2006), Carole Vincent (2007), Lesley Brain (2007), Tracy Barnhard (2007), Darnell Swallow (2008), Michael Hughes (2008), Rachel Rice (2008), Marcus Akin (2009), Lisa Wallace (2009), Dave Vaughan (2010) Steve Gill (2010) went into the BB house with big hopes of fame and a media/celebrity career afterwards.
I guess that is the charm of BB, and I hope that this years series keeps the essence of real contestants from different backgrounds and walks of life.
Ok, fair enough. Good points!I would argue against this, and especially the examples you’ve given, from the later stages. From 2005 (AKA Big Brother 6) which followed a notoriously outrageous series of Big Brother 5 and its fight night, no housemate can legitimately claim they were only entering it for the experience, or through innocent purposes. Tbh, I don’t think any HM post series 1 can claim that if they applied, after seeing how the show blew up.
People keep lamenting they don’t put ordinary people on reality shows. Normal people have never wanted to or don’t want to go on reality shows, and especially not now.
What non-attention seeking person in their right mind after witnessing the Nasty Nick debacle blow up in series 1, then all of the series 2 antics and then series 3 with the Jade backlash and then the fight night in series 5 and think “as a person that doesn’t want to draw much attention to myself, I think applying to this show is the right direction to choose” lol
It does sound crazy after seeing all the BB hype back then & most def wanted fame etc But I think there was def a few just in for the experience. You can tell by those who came out & that was it no stories in Heat etc. As during them BB's especially even the most dull person couldve easily got lots of magazine interviews etcI would argue against this, and especially the examples you’ve given, from the later stages.
