I think they earn a pretty good basic salary (I read somewhere the Chief Stew would earn £5k a month but don’t take my word for it) but when guests take the charter they have to agree to tip, I guess it’s like a service charge. So the crew know they’ll get a tip, it’s a given but obviously the better the service the better the tip!I've just been catching up on the first med series on 4 od, something that struck me is how much they are reliant on tips, is it the same situation as wait staff in the UK where they are barely paid and basically only earn from tips?
wow! and earning that much with no rent etc! (I would never do that job, seems awful and really tough work though) I was just surprised that the youngish guy (cannot remember his name) who had to forfeit a tip was saying he couldn't send money home as he usually wouldI think they earn a pretty good basic salary (I read somewhere the Chief Stew would earn £5k a month but don’t take my word for it) but when guests take the charter they have to agree to tip, I guess it’s like a service charge. Yes, Danny! To be fair he was the lowest rank on the boat so I guess he’s probably earning basic, I’m sure they must get paid from Bravo though too I would have thought.wow! and earning that much with no rent etc! yes him! I was also shocked how much the guests pay, 200,000 euros a week without tip!!!!!!Yes, Danny! To be fair he was the lowest rank on the boat so I guess he’s probably earning basic, I’m sure they must get paid from Bravo though too I would have thought.
Like others have said they get a salary and then tips and obviously for this show they get production fees. Most yachties earn all season and live off the wage the rest of the year. Kate has a really good book about her yachtie life with all kinds of good info.I've just been catching up on the first med series on 4 od, something that struck me is how much they are reliant on tips, is it the same situation as wait staff in the UK where they are barely paid and basically only earn from tips?

I am pretty late to the show though, and only started watching it the other week. But im gutted Danny got sacked, i hated Bryan and Bobby.
I enjoyed last nights, Hannah is soooo bloody annoying though!! The new chef is HOT!
I’m watching mainly cos of the Irish Chief Stew ( hopefully she keeps doing us proud ) but I’m also finding it hard - mainly cos I can’t distinguish any of the girls from each other apart from her!Just watched the second episode of BD Sailing and I just can’t get into it! I don’t know why.
I feel the same, I liked the first series but this one isn’t great so far.Just watched the second episode of BD Sailing and I just can’t get into it! I don’t know why.
Ciara went to work on a boat in Scotland. Her and Paget now living in France. I shouldn’t know all this stuff, I’m obsessedDoes anyone know why the couple from season 1 aren't on this season? Paget and Ciara.
Gary is the Wish version of Norman ReedusBelow Deck Sailing Yacht series 1 was one big advert for Georgia's music.
Hate having to wait for new episodes of this season. Why do they all fancy Gary? Has Natasha never been on a sailing yacht? "Tell the captain the ship is healing!" And that family that have been on the last few episodes the Drewitt- Barlow's .
